Asylum (antiquity)
In ancient Greece and Rome, an asylum referred to a place where people facing persecution could seek refuge. These locations were largely religious in nature, such as temples and other religious sites. A similar concept, the Cities of Refuge, existed in the ancient Levant. Ancient Israel and Judah The Cities of Refuge were certain Levitical towns in the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah in which the perpetrators of accidental manslaughter could claim the right of asylum, though he would still have to stand trial. Outside of these cities, blood vengeance against such perpetrators was allowed by law. ''Asylum'' is a 2014 American horror comedy film directed by Todor Chapkanov and starring Stephen Rea, Bruce Payne, Hristo Shopov, and Caroline Ford. The film was released to DVD in Japan on April 4, 2014 and was released in the United States on June 2, 2015. ''Asylum'' is part of After Dark's "After Dark Originals" series and stars Stephen Rea as a man who must stop his brother from releasing the forces of darkness upon the world. Plot The film follows a riot squad that enters an insane asylum to try to deal with a hostage situation involving some of the inmates. The group is quickly overwhelmed by the patients, who quickly attack the squad members. The resulting chaos causes the group to lose two of their members and the situation turns more tense when they realize that they are completely cut off from the outside world. ''Asylum'' is the thirteenth studio album by the American rock band Kiss, released on September 16, 1985. The album marked a continuation of the glam metal sound of the preceding album '' Animalize''. Recording ''Asylum'' is the first album to feature lead guitarist Bruce Kulick as an official band member. Kulick had replaced former guitarist Mark St. John on some tracks on the previous album '' Animalize'' (1984), during the latter's absence due to reactive arthritis. Subsequently, Kulick filled St. John's spot on most segments of the ''Animalize'' tour. ''Asylum'' is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Disturbed. It was released on August 31, 2010, in the United States through Reprise Records. The album is meant to take a fresh direction in the band's music career, while remaining consistent with the band's previous albums.
