Asuncion, Davao Del Norte
Asuncion, officially the Municipality of Asuncion ( ceb, Lungsod sa Asuncion; tl, Bayan ng Asuncion), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 61,893 people. History The municipality of New Leyte was established on August 1, 1948 by combining the municipal districts of Saug and Camansa, pursuant to Executive Order No. 156 as signed by President Elpidio Quirino. The same year in September 13, New Leyte was renamed to Saug pursuant to Executive Order No. 173 signed once again by President Quirino, after its largest settlement which used to be one of the two municipal districts before the merger. Finally, Saug was once more renamed as Asuncion, named after Our Lady of the Assumption, pursuant to Republic Act No. 1675 approved on June 20, 1957. San Isidro, officially the Municipality of San Isidro ( ceb, Lungsod sa San Isidro; tl, Bayan ng San Isidro), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 27,233 people. History San Isidro was created on June 26, 2004, after the ratification of ''Republic Act (RA) No. 9265''. It was formed out of 6 barangays of Asuncion and 7 barangays of Kapalong. Davao del Norte Representative and former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez filed ''House Bill No. 9452'' renaming the municipality to ''Sawata''. It passed on third and final reading by the House on August 3, 2021 and on the Senate on January 31, 2022. Compostela, officially the Municipality of Compostela ( ceb, Lungsod sa Compostela; tl, Bayan ng Compostela), is a 1st class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Davao de Oro, Philippines. Elpidio Quirino
Elpidio Rivera Quirino (born Elpidio Quirino y Rivera; ; November 16, 1890 – February 29, 1956) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the sixth president of the Philippines from 1948 to 1953. A lawyer by profession, Quirino entered politics when he became a representative of Ilocos Sur from 1919 to 1925. He was then elected as a senator from 1925 to 1935. In 1934, he became a member of the Philippine Independence Commission that was sent to Washington, D.C., which secured the passage of Tydings–McDuffie Act to the United States Congress. Davao del Norte ( ceb, Amihanang Dabaw; tl, Hilagang Davao), officially the Province of Davao del Norte, is a province in the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao. Its capital and largest city is Tagum. The province also includes Samal Island to the south in the Davao Gulf.
