Asturian Derby
The Asturian derby ( ast, Derbi asturianu, es, Derbi asturiano or ''Derbi astur''), is the name given to any association football match contested between Sporting de Gijón and Real Oviedo, the two biggest clubs in Asturias. The rivalry is well-known as one of the strongest, most heated in Spanish football. History The first competitive match between the two teams was played on 5 December 1926, after the two main teams in Oviedo (Stadium Ovetense and Deportivo Oviedo) merged to create Real Oviedo. The match, in the Regional Championship of Asturias, was played in El Molinón and Sporting Gijón won by 2–1. 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic In Asturias
The COVID-19 pandemic in Asturias was part of the Spanish outbreak of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. As of 17 February 2021, there were 41,983 cases with 1,683 deaths in Asturias according to authorities. The peak of the pandemic's first wave arrived on 16 April, with 1,405 active cases, and on 27 June, Asturias was the first Spanish autonomous community to be declared COVID-free region, with only 45 active cases and after accumulating 14 days without any new positive cases reported. However, on 7 July and 25 days after, a positive case was detected in Oviedo. 2019–20 Segunda División
The 2019–20 Segunda División season, also known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons, was the 89th since its establishment. On 12 March 2020 after most of teams had played 31 games, the league was suspended for at least two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. The league was suspended indefinitely on 23 March. The season recommenced on 10 June and was initially planned to be completed on 20 July. On 20 July 2020, the final day of the regular season, Deportivo La Coruña's match against Fuenlabrada was suspended indefinitely due to several Fuenlabrada players testing positive for COVID-19, therefore, delaying the official end of the season. Carlos Tartiere
Estadio Municipal Carlos Tartiere is a multi-use stadium in Oviedo, Spain. With a capacity of 30,500 seats, it is the 17th-largest stadium in Spain and the largest in Asturias. The new Carlos Tartiere replaced the former stadium of the same name built in 1932, as the home venue of Real Oviedo. Ultras
Ultras are a type of association football fans who are renowned for their fanatical support. The term originated in Italy, but is used worldwide to describe predominantly organised fans of association football teams. The behavioural tendency of ultras groups includes their use of flares (primarily in tifo choreography), vocal support in large groups and the displaying of banners at football stadiums, all of which are designed to create an atmosphere which encourages their own team and intimidates the opposing players and their supporters. Tercera División ( en, Third Division) was the fourth tier of the Spanish football league system.
