Astros de Jalisco (English: ''Jalisco Astros'') is a professional Mexican basketball team, based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The Astros are part the CIBACOPA and the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The team plays its home games at the Arena Astros, with a capacity of 4,000 spectators. History The Astros were presented in February 2019 as a joint effort between the government of the State of Jalisco and Grupo Multimedios, a media conglomerate. The National Professional Basketball League ( or LNBP) is the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The league was founded in 2000 with 10 teams. Despite its short history, the LNBP has established itself as the one of the most important basketball leagues in Latin America. Sergio Valdeolmillos Moreno (born April 4, 1967) is a Spanish basketball coach who is the current coach of Astros de Jalisco of the Mexican CIBACOPA. Grupo Multimedios is a Mexican media conglomerate with holdings in broadcast television, radio, publishing and entertainment. The company is headquartered in Monterrey. History Multimedios was founded in 1940 when Jesús Dionisio González acquired Monterrey radio station XEX, where he had formerly worked, for 12,500 pesos. The Plateros are part Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional, the top professional basketball league in Mexico. The team play their home games at the Gimnasio Solidaridad Municipal, with a capacity of 4,000 spectators. History The Plateros were founded in 2019 in order to compete in the 2019–20 LNBP season. The team was created by an initiative of the local government of Fresnillo and the state government of Zacatecas in order to promote basketball in the region. Rayos de Hermosillo is a Mexican professional basketball club based in Hermosillo, Sonora.
