Astrid Kruisselbrink
Astrid Kruisselbrink (born 9 February 1972) is a Dutch composer. While studying at the Rotterdam Conservatory (1993–99) she won first prize at the European Young Women Composers Contest with the choral work ''Zijn lippen zijn uw lippen'' (His Lips are Your Lips). In 1998, her ''Spin'' for soprano and ensemble was selected for the international Gaudeamus Music Week for young musicians. Just before graduation, her composition ''In'' for orchestra was selected for the Project Jonge Componisten (Project Young Composers) and performed by the Balletorchestra, conducted by Richard Dufallo. She has since composed for various ensembles and choirs. During and after her studies she studied briefly with Luciano Berio, Betsy Jolas, Louis Andriessen and György Kurtag. Codarts University for the Arts ( nl, Codarts hogeschool voor de kunsten) is a Dutch vocational university in Rotterdam that teaches music, dance and circus. It was established in its present location in 2000. History Codarts can trace its origins to the Rotterdam Conservatorium voor Muziek (Rotterdam Conservatory of Music), popularly known as the Conservatorium Holthaus after its director, Jos Holthaus (1879-1943). Hans Peter Wilhelm Arp (16 September 1886 – 7 June 1966), better known as Jean Arp in English, was a German-French sculptor, painter, and poet. He was known as a Dadaist and an abstract artist. Early life Arp was born in Straßburg (now Strasbourg), the son of a French mother and a German father, during the period following the Franco-Prussian War when the area was known as Alsace-Lorraine (''Elsass-Lothringen'' in German) after France had ceded it to Germany in 1871. Following the return of Alsace to France at the end of World War I, French law determined that his name become "Jean". Arp would continue referring to himself as "Hans" when he spoke German. Gouda, South Holland
Gouda () is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, between Rotterdam and Utrecht, in the province of South Holland. Gouda has a population of 75,000 and is famous for its Gouda cheese, stroopwafels, many grachten, smoking pipes, and its 15th-century city hall. Its array of historic churches and other buildings makes it a very popular day trip destination.
