Assen Railway Station
Assen (; abbreviation: Asn) is a railway station located in Assen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 1 May 1870 and is located on the Meppel–Groningen railway. The station is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. A new station building was opened in 2020, featuring a large wooden triangular roof with windows allowing light down to the indoor spaces and platforms, replacing the previous building from 1988. From 1902 until 1947 there was also a railway line to Gasselternijveen, where trains connected to the railway line to Stadskanaal. Future The railway station and station area, is to be upgraded along with other public works around the city of Assen, such as the creation of a harbour quarter, joining up the canal system through the city and creation of a city boulevard. TT Circuit Assen
The TT Circuit Assen is a motorsport race track built in 1955 and located in Assen, Netherlands. Host of the Dutch TT, it is popularly referred to as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling by the fans of the sport. Connexxion is a large public transport company in the Netherlands, operating in the west, middle, east and southwest parts of the country. It is owned by Transdev and Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten. Assen-Zuid Railway Station
Assen-Zuid (English: Assen South) is a planned railway station in Assen, Netherlands. Assen city official Alex Langius said in February 2012 that the station is expected to be built south of the N33 road, between Assen railway station and Beilen railway station, along the existing Meppel-Groningen railway. Langius described the station as an 'events station', meaning it would be used to transport train passengers to events such as those at motorsport race track TT Circuit Assen. Langius said discussions are ongoing between Assen, Nederlandse Spoorwegen, ProRail and the provincial government. He said a decision about the start of the construction of the station is expected by the end of 2012, with construction possibly beginning in 2014 or 2015.
