William Asplin
William Asplin (1686/7–1758) was a British writer, theologian, and churchman. Life Asplin was educated at Trinity College, Oxford, and, on taking his B.A. degree in 1707, removed to St. Alban's Hall, and became vice-principal. He was ordained in 1709, became chaplain to a regiment, and in 1717 vicar of Banbury. In 1721 he became vicar of Horley, and in 1733 vicar of Burthorpe, Gloucestershire. He married Mary, daughter of John Myster, of Horton, Oxfordshire. Asplin was a man of considerable learning, and corresponded with Dr. John Ward, the Gresham Professor of Rhetoric, on matters relating to archaeological lore and natural history. Works *''Alkibla. Richard Asplin
Richard Asplin (born 28 November 1972 in London, England) is an English novelist working in the crime and comic novel genres. His first novel, ''T-Shirt and Genes'', was published by Arrow Books, an imprint of Random House, in 2001. A romantic comedy addressing the perils of applying evolutionary psychology to modern relationships, it was praised by Tony Parsons as being “the funniest debut novel since The Rachel Papers”. ''T-Shirt and Genes'' was followed by ''Gagged (a thriller with jokes)'' in 2004, also published by Arrow Books. In 2009 Asplin's third novel, ''Conman'', was published by UK independent crime specialist No Exit Press. The book was shortlisted for the 2010 Gold Dagger award by the Crime Writers' Association. As well as writing, Asplin has performed as a stand-up comedian and worked in marketing. He is married and lives in London. Per Asplin (10 August 1928, in Tønsberg – 9 October 1996, in Oslo) was a Norwegian pianist, singer, composer and actor. He co-starred in a handful of films as well as participating in Melodi Grand Prix five times in the 1960s. Still he is probably best remembered as a member of the Norwegian vocal group The Monn Keys and for creating the annual Christmas show ''Putti Plutti Pott and Santa's Beard''.
