Asperdaphne
''Asperdaphne'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae. Description This genus resembles '' Daphnella'' in form and general appearance, but differs in having the protoconch spirally grooved instead of being obliquely reticulated. The contour is lanceolate rather than oval. The shell has usually more whorls, increasing less rapidly, with a longer and more turreted spire. The anal fasciole is usually more marked than in ''Daphnella'', being more excavate, and crossed by sharp crescentic riblets. Some members of this genus have a superficial resemblance to ''Defrancia'', under which genus they have been arranged. Distribution This marine genus occurs in the Western Pacific, from Japan to New Zealand; also off Australia (New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria Victoria most commonly refers to: * Victoria (Australia), a state of the Commonwealth of Australia * Victoria, British Columbia, provincial capital of British ...

Asperdaphne Bela
''Asperdaphne bela'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The typical shell-length is 2.4 mm, its diameter 1.5 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore. (Original description) The shell is small and ventricose. Its color is white with the front half of the body whorl brownish. The shell contains 3½ whorls, including a 1½ whorled protoconch. which is spirally lirate. The subsequent two whorls are rounded, crossed by strong axial ribs, about nine on the body whorl. They follow each other at the suture, and fade away on the base. These ribs are separated by spaces about twice as wide as themselves, and crossed by numerous flattened lirae, which are close together, and slightly corrugate the ribs. The aperture is large, oval, scarcely forming a siphonal canal. Above it forms a round shallow sinus.

Daphnella
''Daphnella'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Raphitomidae. Not to be confused with ''Daphnella'' Baird, 1850, a synonym of ''Diaphanosoma'' Fischer, 1850 belonging to the Sididae, a family of ctenopods. Description This genus is well characterised by a small, thin shell, elongate-ovate form, a sharp outer lip, the position of the sinus on the line of the advancing suture, and by the reduction of the siphonal canal. The protoconch has a sinusigerid (or diagonally cancellate) structure. The surface is usually striated. The spire is elevated, the body whorl is elongated. The early whorls of the teleoconch show a nodulous sculpture produced by strong axial riblets and strong spiral lirations. These axial riblets disappear on the body whorl, while the spiral lirations remain. The aperture is oblong-oval, slightly channelled in front. The columella is simple. The outer lip is slightly thickened in the adult. Species Species within the genus ''Daphne ...

Asperdaphne Elegantissima
''Asperdaphne elegantissima'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The length of the shell varies between 8 mm and 26 mm. (Original description) The ovately-fusiform shell has a sharp spire and a short siphonal canal. It is moderately strong, yellowish, with a faint red-brown band at the base of the body whorl. The shell contains 9 whorls, of which about form a protoconch with obscure sculpture. The subsequent whorls are convex, separated by a linear suture, with a slight excavation below it. The sculpture consists of remote, rounded ribs, 10 in number on penultimate whorl, stronger on the upper ones, and numerous, raised, axial striae, as well on the ribs as in the interstices. This sculpture is crossed by numerous spiral lirae, which are fainter in the excavation and of which some, (4 on penultimate whorl) are stronger. In crossing the ribs these stronger lirae produce tubercles, strongest on upper whorls, nearly disap ...

Asperdaphne Perissa
''Asperdaphne perissa'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The length of the shell attains 7.4 mm, its diameter 2.9 mm. (Original description) The thin shell is ovate-fusiform and has an acuminate spire. it contains five whorls of which two in the protoconch, the latter subulate with spiral punctate grooves. The colour of the shell is dead white except a cinnamon protoconch. The sculpture shows spiral threads predominating, amounting on the body whorl to about thirty, not impinging on a broad anal fasciole, beneath this strong and widely spaced, becoming feebler and closer below the periphery, but waxing stronger on the back of the siphonal canal. The penultimate carries six such spirals, then three, then two on the earlier whorls. The radials are stronger on the younger whorls, but decrease on the older. In the body whorl they fade away about the periphery, and in the penultimate scarcely reach across the whorl. In ever ...

Asperdaphne Esperanza
''Asperdaphne esperanza'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The length of the shell attains 5.3 mm, its diameter 2 mm. (Original description) The dull white shell is high, attenuate anteriorly. It contains six whorls, strongly angular, and including a smooth blunt two-whorled protoconch. A strong keel angles the periphery, another less strong halfway to the lower suture, and a third margins the suture. On the upper slope are two or more faint spirals. Numerous axial lirae cancellate the shell and pass over the keels, rendering them nodulous. They disappear on the lower part of the body whorl, which is occupied by about eight smooth spirals. The aperture is subquadrate, contracted in front to form a short open siphonal canal. The outer lip is strongly angled at the carena, forming a wide, triangular sinus; below corrugated by the sculpture. The inner lip is curved.

Asperdaphne Bastowi
''Asperdaphne bastowi'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Raphitomidae. Description The length of the shell attains 4 mm, its diameter 1.75 mm. (Original description) The small, greyish white shell contains 5½ whorls. These are convex, somewhat angled below the suture, which is impressed. The apex is dome-shaped, consisting of two whorls, the first being very small. They have numerous spiral striae, crossed at right angles by others of about double strength, but the spirals are more numerous. The other whorls are ribbed longitudinally, the ribs having a slight spiral trend. These ribs terminate a little below the suture, the intervening space carrying rather closely set angularly bent threads. Under the microscope these are thickened at the base and sharp at the edge, resembling a propeller blade, their contour following the outline of the sinus. Between the ribs the area is concave and cancellated, the spirals are somewhat stronger and appear ...
