Asko Künnap
Asko Künnap (born 6 September 1971) is an Estonian designer, writer, and artist. Education Asko Künnap attendeMiina Härma Gymnasium(1978–1989) and the Tartu Children’s Art School (1980–1984). He graduated from thEstonian Academy of Artsin product- and graphic design (1989–1995), and studied interior architecture at thOslo National Academy of the Arts(1991–1992). Career Künnap has worked as a freelance illustrator and designer (1992–1994) as well as creative director at the advertising agencies ZOOM Ogilvy (1994–2003) anRakett(2003–2014). He has received numerous nominations and prizes in competitions including the Effie Awards and the Estonian Golden Egg Competition. Cultural Endowment Of Estonia
Cultural Endowment of Estonia ( et, Eesti Kultuurkapital, abbreviated ''Kulka'' or ''KULKA''; also translated as ''Estonian Cultural Capital'') is an Estonian foundation which supports activities related to Estonian culture. The foundation was established in 1925 and re-established in 1994. The foundation was established in 1925 after the Estonian Parliament passed the ''Cultural Endowment of Estonia Act''. It was decided that scholarships are to be given twice a year: on 1 April and on 1 October. The foundation was re-established in 1994 after the Estonian Parliament passed a new ''Cultural Endowment of Estonia Act''. Kristiina Ehin
Kristiina Ehin (born 18 July 1977) is an Estonia, Estonian poet, translator, singer and songwriter. Ehin studied at University of Tartu with a degree in philology and specializes in folklore. In 2004, she acquired master's degree in the Estonian language and comparative folklore field at the University of Tartu. The master's thesis topic was "The Possibilities for Interpretation of the Oldest and Newer Lied of Estonia in the Female-Religious Perspective". She has worked as a teacher at Vodja school. Ehin has sung in the ensemble Sinimaniseele and from 2012, in the ensemble Naised Köögis (English: Women in the Kitchen), whose members are Katrin Laidre, Sofia Joons and Kairi Leivo. She represented Estonia at the satellite event of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Poetry Parnassus, which took place from 26 June to 1 July 2012. Veronika Kivisilla (née Savi; born 21 December 1978) is an Estonian poet and literary critic, possibly best known for her publications ''Kallis kalender'' (2011), ''Cantus Firmus'' (2015), ''Kuni armastus peale tuleb'' (2018), and ''Salutatio'' (2019). Early life and education Veronika Kivisilla was born Veronika Savi in Tallinn, where she attended primary and secondary schools. After graduating secondary school in 1997, she enrolled at Tallinn University, majoring in Estonian language and literature, graduating in 2001. Vahur Afanasjev
Vahur Afanasjev (born Vahur Laanoja; 24 August 1979 – 10 May 2021) was an Estonian novelist, poet, musician and film director best known for his novel ''Serafima and Bogdan'' a story following the lives in a village of Russian Orthodox Old Believers on the shore of the lake Peipus from the end of the World War II to the nineties. The novel won the 2017 Estonian Writers' Union's Novel Competition. Biography Afanasjev graduated from the University of Tartu in 2002, majoring in economic policy. He was a member of a literary group called Tartu Young Authors' Association since 1998, and a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 2006. Hasso Krull
Hasso Krull (born 1964 in Tallinn) is an Estonian poet, literary and cultural critic, and translator. Krull's main points of focus in his work have been postmodernism and post-structuralism. His topics include history, philosophy, literature, and translation. In 1990 Krull began teaching at the Estonian Institute of Humanities in literary and cultural theory. In 2001 he co-founded Ninniku (poetry in translation online periodical) which led to the book series Ninniju Raamatukogu. Ledbury Poetry Festival
Founded in 1996 by a group of local poetry enthusiasts, the Ledbury Poetry Festival is now the biggest poetry festival in the UK. History The first Ledbury Poetry Festival was held in 1997 in Ledbury, Herefordshire. It was opened by jazz singer, critic and writer George Melly. The following year it was opened by Mark Fisher, the Labour arts minister. Since then, over a thousand national and international poets have taken part in the festival.
