Asiya (film)
''Aseeya '' is a Pakistani Bengali drama film that was released in 1960. The film produced and directed by Fateh Lohani. Story and dialogue by Nazir Hossain and also screenplay by Fateh Lohani. The film was produced in the banner of ''Purbani Chitro'' and produced by Pakistan Film Institute. Sumita Devi has starred in the main role and Shaheed, Kazi Khalek Kazi Khalek (1915–1970) was a Bangladeshi film actor. He is known for his outstanding contribution to development of the film industry in Dhaka. Fateh Lohani
Fateh Lohani (1920 – 12 April 1975) was a Bangladeshi actor, film director, writer and journalist. Education Lohani passed Matriculation examination from St Mary's Cathedral Mission High School in Calcutta. He completed his IA and BA degrees from Ripon College in Kolkata. In 1950, he went to London and completed a two years course on drama producing at the Oldwick Theatre School. He took film education as a member of the British Film Institute. . Career Lohani was involved in publication of the monthly literature magazine Agatya since 1949. In 1949, he joined the Karachi Radio and later, BBC. He returned to Dhaka in 1954 and started producing films and simultaneously, worked in radio, acted in drama and carried out the profession of writing. He was the first director of a feature film after the establishment of Film Development Corporation in 1957. Nazir Ahmed (filmmaker)
Nazir Ahmed (1925 – 1 February 1990) was a Bengali people, Bengali filmmaker. He served as the founding executive director of East Pakistan Film Development Corporation (later Bangladesh Film Development Corporation) during 1957–1962. Background Ahmed was born at 17 Ashik Lane, Islampur neighborhood in Old Dhaka. Ahmed's grandfather Mirza Hayat performed as an actor for the Nawabs of Dhaka. His father, Mirza Fakir and uncle, Mirza Kader were actors as well. Ahmed's elder brother, Abu Naser Ahmed, was one of the founders of East Bengal Film Association in 1952. His younger brother, Hamidur Rahman (artist), Hamidur Rahman, an artist, who later was the architect of Shaheed Minar, Dhaka. Ahmed completed his bachelor's from the University of Dhaka in 1942. Sumita Devi
Nilufar Begum (2 February 1936 – 6 January 2004; born Hena Bhattacharya), better known by her stage name Sumita Devi, was a Bangladeshi actress. In 45 years of her career, she acted in around 200 films and 150 radio and television dramas. She was an artist at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra in 1971. Early life and career Devi was born in Manikganj District in the then Bengal Presidency. She moved with her parents, first to Dhaka in 1944, then to Calcutta in 1951. Kazi Khalek (1915–1970) was a Bangladeshi film actor. He is known for his outstanding contribution to development of the film industry in Dhaka. Samar Das
Samar Das ( bn, সমর দাস) (10 December 1925 – 25 September 2001) was a Bangladeshi musician and composer. He became one of the most important music directors in Pakistan and subsequently Bangladesh and was the composer of over 2,000 songs. Early life Samar Das was born into a Bengali Christian family in the Nabadwip Basak Lane of old Dhaka. His family was deeply involved with music and he received his initial training at home. He started his musical career playing the ''bansi'' (Indian flute), guitar and piano at the Dhaka center of All India Radio. Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. Jharna Basak (born 17 August 1946), known by her stage name Shabnam, is a Bangladeshi–Pakistani stage and film actress. Actor Waheed Murad introduced her to the Pakistani film industry by offering her a lead role in his film ''Samundar'' in 1968. Shabnam remained active in Lollywood in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. She has been nominated for Nigar awards several times, winning it 13 times (the most for an actress). She has appeared in over 150 films films. Kamal Lohani (26 June 1934 – 20 June 2020) was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He served as the director general of Shilpakala Academy from April 2009 until April 2011. Career Lohani got his first job as a journalist in the Daily Millat in 1955.
