Asim Vokshi (1909–1937) was an Albanians, Albanian Kosovo, Kosovar from Gjakova, Kosovo Vilayet, Ottoman Empire, and studied at a military academy in Italy. He served as a staff officer in the Garibaldi Battalion of the XII International Brigade during the Spanish Civil War. He is buried in the Cemetery of the Martyrs, Shkodër, Albania. Shkodër ( , ; sq-definite, Shkodra) is the fifth-most-populous city of the Republic of Albania and the seat of Shkodër County and Shkodër Municipality. The XII International Brigade was mustered on 7 November 1936 at Albacete, Spain. It was formerly named the Garibaldi Brigade, after the most famous and inspiring leader in the Italian Independence Wars, General Giuseppe Garibaldi. The Albanians (; sq, Shqiptarët ) are an ethnic group and nation native to the Balkan Peninsula who share a common Albanian ancestry, culture, history and language.
