Asim Duttaroy
Asim K. Duttaroy is an Indian-born American medical scientist who, since 2001, has worked as a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway. He was born in Gopinagar (Gangnapur), Nadia district, West Bengal, India. Duttaroy is the author of over 370 research papers and book chapters, has authored or edited several books, and also holds several international patents. His research contributions have led to several industrial developments worldwide, such as Provexis. Duttaroy, while he worked as Professor (1990-2001) at the Rowett Research Institute at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom, discovered that an extract from tomato had a positive effect in the prevention of blood platelet aggregation. Gangnapur
Gangnapur is a census town in the Ranaghat II CD block in the Ranaghat subdivision of the Nadia district in the state of West Bengal, India. Geography Location Gangnapur is located at Area overview Nadia district is mostly alluvial plains lying to the east of Hooghly River, locally known as Bhagirathi. The placenta is a temporary embryonic and later fetal organ that begins developing from the blastocyst shortly after implantation. Platelets, also called thrombocytes (from Greek θρόμβος, "clot" and κύτος, "cell"), are a component of blood whose function (along with the coagulation factors) is to react to bleeding from blood vessel injury by clumping, thereby initiating a blood clot.
