Ashutosh Bhattacharya
Ashutosh Bhattacharya (17 March 1917 – 8 February 2004) was a noted Indian classical musician of Hindustani classical music from Varanasi, who was Tabla player and music educator, besides a practicing Ayurvedic doctor. In 1966, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. Early life and background Born in a Bengali family in Varanasi (Benaras), Uttar Pradesh, Bhattacharya grew up in the family of Ayurvedic doctors, where both his father and grandfather practiced Ayurvedic medicine. However, at a young age he showed musical inclination and at age 8 started learning ''pakhawaj'' from Pandit Ram Nath Mishra. After a few years of training, he switched to learning tabla from Pandit Kanthe Maharaj, noted tabla player of the Benares gharana, and uncle of Kishan Maharaj. Allauddin Khan
Allauddin Khan, also known as Baba Allauddin Khan ( – 6 September 1972) was an Indian sarod player and multi-instrumentalist, composer and one of the most notable music teachers of the 20th century in Indian classical music. For a generation many of his students, across different instruments like sitar and violin, dominated Hindustani classical and became some of the most famous exponents of the form ever, including Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan. Early life Khan was born in Shibpur village in Brahmanbaria (in present-day Bangladesh). His father, Sabdar Hossain Khan, was a musician. Khan took his first music lessons from his elder brother, Fakir Aftabuddin Khan. Pandit Chandra Nath Shastri ( bn, চন্দ্রনাথ শাস্ত্রী, hi, चंद्रनाथ शास्त्री, 23 December 1948), is a tabla (Indian hand percussion) musician from India, currently based in Kolkata. Samta Prasad (Hindi : पण्डित सामता प्रसाद; 20 July 1921 – 31 May 1994) was an Indian classical musician and tabla player from the Benares gharana. He played tabla in many Hindi films including, ''Meri Surat Teri Ankhen'' (1963) and ''Sholay'' (1975), and film music composers Rahul Dev Burman and Bappi Lahiri were his disciples. He was the son of Hari Sundarrr, also known as Bachaa Mishra, his grandfather was Jagannath Mishra, and his ancestors included Pratap Maharaj, also known as Gudai Maharaj. Anokhelal Mishra ( hi, अनोखेलाल मिश्रा; 1914.. 10 March 1958) also spelled as Anokhe Lal Misra and commonly known as Pandit Anokhelalji was an Indian Tablā Artist who belonged to the Banaras Gharana of Hindustani classical music. Early life Anokhelal was born in a very poor family of Kashi (Banaras), now known as Varanasi (State – Uttar Pradesh).
