Igor Raufovich Ashurbeyli ( az, İqor Rauf oğlu Aşurbəyli;, russian: Игорь Рауфович Ашурбейли; born 9 September 1963, in Baku, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani-Russian scientist, businessman and a Head of the micronation Asgardia, the Space Nation. He is also the leader of the Party of Russia's Rebirth since 2016. He was the CEO of Scientific Production Association (SPA) Almaz from 2000 to 2011. He is also the founder and chairman of the board of Socium Holding. He has a Doctorate of Science in engineering and a PhD in engineering, with a specialization in computer science. Sara Ashurbeyli
Sara Ashurbeyli, sometimes known as Sara Ashurbayli ( az, Sara Balabəy qızı Aşurbəyli), (27 January 1906 – 17 July 2001 in Baku) was an eminent Azerbaijani historian, orientalist and scholar. She was an expert in the early and medieval history of Baku and published many papers and books. Biography The daughter of a rich oil magnate, Sara Ashurbeyli had a perfect education and finished Jeanne D’Arc College in Constantinople in 1925 and entered Baku State University in 1930 this time in Soviet Azerbaijan. She graduated as an orientalist, she also studied European languages in Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute, thus besides her native Azerbaijani language she knew Arabic, Persian, Turkish, French, German, Russian, and English. She was also an artist and became a member of the Union of Azerbaijan's Artists in 1946. During her lifetime she also taught in various institutions and was a dean for a while. Ashurbeyov
The Ashurbeyovs ( az, Aşurbəyov) or Ashurbeylis ( az, Aşurbəyli) are an Azerbaijani noble family, with an extensive history and bloodline. History The Ashurbeyov family originated from Ashur khan Afshar. Ashur khan was Nadir shah's relative, and due to this, he became governor of Tabriz, then vicar of Iranian Azerbaijan during the reign of Nadir shah. In 1743, he participated in suppression of Sam Mirza's rebellion, who posed himself as the descendant of the Safavids. Nadir shah presented lands in Absheron peninsula, including Sabunchu, Keshly and Zabrat to Ashur khan according to these merits. A lot of members of Ashur bey's family settled in these possessions. Ashur khan had five sons: Abdulla bey, Haji Imamverdi bey, Danial bey, Aliyar bey and Allahverdi bey.
