Ashley Ruth Wheeler (born August 6, 1986) was crowned Miss Vermont 2008 on Saturday, April 26, 2008, in Barre, Vermont. Personal life Wheeler was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to Michael & Donna Ellsworth Wheeler. She grew up in Lyndonville, Vermont. Miss America Her vocal talent was singing "The Prayer." Ashley's platform is Political Awareness Among Young Voters. She was competing for the title of Miss America 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada in January and she won a Preliminary Talent Award for her a cappella vocal performance of "God Bless America "God Bless America" is an American patriotic song written by Irving Berlin during World War I in 1918 and revised by him in the run up to World War II in 1938. Saint Michael's College
Saint Michael's College (St. Mikes or Saint Michael's) is a private Roman Catholic college in Colchester, Vermont. Saint Michael's was founded in 1904 by the Society of Saint Edmund. It grants Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in over 30 majors to over 1,600 undergraduate students. Housing availability is guaranteed for all four years although about 10% of students, mostly upperclassmen, live off campus. Miss Vermont
The Miss Vermont competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Vermont in the Miss America pageant. While Vermont is the only state to have never had a contestant advance to the semi-finals of the Miss America pageant, their representatives have won numerous non-finalist awards. Alexina Federhen of Bennington was crowned Miss Vermont 2022 on April 24, 2022, at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph, Vermont. She competed for the title of Miss America 2023 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut in December 2022 where she was a Women Who Brand Finalist. Miss America 2009, the 82nd Miss America pageant, was held on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada on Saturday, January 24, 2009. The pageant was broadcast live on TLC from the Theatre for the Performing Arts at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, only the fourth time that the pageant has been held outside Atlantic City, New Jersey. Selection of contestants One delegate from each state was chosen in state pageants held in mid-2008. Prior to competing in state pageants, the majority of delegates first were required to win a local title. Barre ( ) is the most populous city in Washington County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the municipal population was 8,491. Lyndonville is a village in the town of Lyndon, in Caledonia County, Vermont, United States. Lyndonville's population was 1,136 at the 2020 census.
