Ashley Tait
Ashley Tait (born 9 August 1975) is a British ice hockey forward who is currently player/coach for the Basingstoke Bison of the National Ice Hockey League. During Tait's career he has also played for Coventry Blaze, Nottingham Panthers (EIHL), Kingston Hawks ( BNL), Sheffield Steelers (EIHL), Milton Keynes Lightning (EIHL), Belfast Giants (EIHL) and Ritten Renon (LIHG). Tait held the record for most senior Great Britain appearances with 110, until surpassed by Jonathan Phillips in May 2022. Playing career Tait played junior hockey for Nottingham Panthers and progressed through the ranks playing in their ISL team in the 1999–2000 season. After a move to Kingston Hawks, where he played two seasons in the BNL, Tait then moved back to the Nottingham Panthers for three full seasons in the Super League. Sheffield Steelers
The Sheffield Steelers are a professional ice hockey team located in Sheffield, England. They were formed in 1991 (see 1991 in sport) and play their home games at the Utilita Arena. They are currently a member of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The club's main (title) sponsor is Sheffield Window Centre. History Ice Hockey existed in amateur form in Sheffield, but the sport began its return to an era of arenas and stadium size crowds with the opening of the Sheffield Arena in 1991 and the creation of the Sheffield Steelers — the ice hockey team that was to occupy the new arena. Jonathan Phillips (ice Hockey)
Jonathan Phillips (born 14 July 1982) is a retired Welsh ice hockey forward who last played for and captained the Sheffield Steelers in the EIHL. Phillips also captained the Great Britain men's national ice hockey team from 2012–2023 and passed 100 senior caps at the 2021 IIHF World Championship. In May 2022, Phillips passed Ashley Tait for the most senior Great Britain ice hockey caps with 111, achieving the feat at the 2022 IIHF World Championship. Career Phillips played both football and ice hockey growing up, however by the age of 11 he fully committed to ice hockey. He caught the attention of Cardiff Devils's coach Paul Heavey while playing for Great Britain's Under 18 and Under 20 International team, and was named to his squad for 1999-00 season. The National Ice Centre (NIC) is located in Nottingham, England. It is situated just east of the city centre, close to the historic Lace Market area. The NIC was the first twin Olympic-sized (60m x 30m) ice pad facility in the UK, "heralding a new era in the development of ice skating".
