Ashley Nicole Black (born June 15, 1985) is an American comedian, actress, writer and producer. She was a writer and correspondent for ''Full Frontal with Samantha Bee'' (2016–2019), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. Black is a writer for ''Ted Lasso,'' ''The Amber Ruffin Show'', and ''A Black Lady Sketch Show'', on which she also stars. Early life and education Black was born in Los Angeles, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Walnut, California. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2007 with a degree in theatre arts.
