Ashley Hatch
Ashley Marie Hatch (born May 25, 1995) is an American soccer player who plays as a forward for Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She has also played for the United States women's national soccer team. Hatch was selected by the Courage as the second overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. Following the 2017 season, she was named 2017 NWSL Rookie of the Year after recording seven goals (including three game-winning goals) and one assist, which helped the Courage win the 2017 NWSL Shield. She previously played collegiate soccer for the BYU Cougars. It was founded on January 9, 2017, after Stephen Malik acquired National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise rights from the Western New York Flash. The Portland Thorns FC is an American professional women's soccer team based in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2012, the team began play in 2013 in the then-eight-team National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), which receives support from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). 2017 Portland Thorns FC Season
The 2017 Portland Thorns FC season was the team's and the league's fifth season of existence. The Thorns played in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the top division of women's soccer in the United States. The Thorns had finished in first place in the 2016 season, but failed to advance from the semifinals in the 2016 NWSL playoffs. With a slogan of "Unfinished Business", they qualified for the NWSL playoffs as the 2nd ranked team in the 2017 regular season.
