Ashgabat Cinema
The Ashgabat cinema ( tk, Aşgabat kinoteatry) is a movie theater in Ashgabat. The theater is on Magtymguly Avenue near the Kopetdag Stadium. Opened on June 29, 2011, it is the first 3D cinema in Turkmenistan. History The initiator of the first 3D-cinema was the President of Turkmenistan. A tender for the construction of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan announced in January 2008. In September it was announced that the Turkish construction company "Ichkale", commissioned by the state concern "Turkmennebitgazgurlushik" build in the center of Ashgabat new modern cinema. The project cost more than U.S. $20 million. In the future, the facility was taken over by the French construction company Vinci. The opening ceremony of the building took place on June 29, 2011 with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Ashgabat
Ashgabat or Asgabat ( tk, Aşgabat, ; fa, عشقآباد, translit='Ešqābād, formerly named Poltoratsk ( rus, Полтора́цк, p=pəltɐˈratsk) between 1919 and 1927), is the capital and the largest city of Turkmenistan. It lies between the Karakum Desert and the Kopetdag mountain range in Central Asia, near the Iran-Turkmenistan border. The city was founded in 1881 on the basis of an Ahal Teke tribal village, and made the capital of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924. Much of the city was destroyed by the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake, but has since been extensively rebuilt under the rule of Saparmurat Niyazov's "White City" urban renewal project, resulting in monumental projects sheathed in costly white marble. The Soviet-era Karakum Canal runs through the city, carrying waters from the Amu Darya from east to west. Magtymguly Avenue
Magtymguly Avenue ( tk, Magtymguly şaýoly, russian: Проспект Махтумкули), transliterated from Russian as Makhtumkuli, is an avenue in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It is considered to be the longest and most prominent avenue in the capital Origins and Description When it was originally created in the early 1880s, Magtymguly Avenue, then named Merv Prospect (russian: Мервский проспект), ran through the entire city and then merged with the road leading to Merv. It was subsequently renamed Kuropatkin Prospect (russian: Куропаткинский проспект) in honor of General Aleksey Kuropatkin. Kopetdag Stadium
The Köpet Dag, Kopet Dagh, or Koppeh Dagh ( tk, Köpetdag; fa, کپهداغ), also known as the Turkmen-Khorasan Mountain Range, is a mountain range on the border between Turkmenistan and Iran that extends about along the border southeast of the Caspian Sea, stretching northwest-southeast from near the Caspian Sea in the northwest to the Harirud River in the southeast. In the southwest it borders on the parallel eastern endings of the Alborz mountains being together part of the much larger Alpide belt. The highest peak of the range in Turkmenistan is the Mount Rizeh (Kuh-e Rizeh), located at the southwest of the capital Ashgabat and stands at . The highest Iranian summit is Mount Quchan (Kuh-e Quchan) with . Etymology Vambery conjectured that ''köpet'' originates from the Turkmen language where "köp" means "a lot" or "many" and the word "dag" means "mountain" or "peak". 3D Film
3D films are motion pictures made to give an illusion of three-dimensional solidity, usually with the help of special glasses worn by viewers. They have existed in some form since 1915, but had been largely relegated to a niche in the motion picture industry because of the costly hardware and processes required to produce and display a 3D film, and the lack of a standardized format for all segments of the entertainment business. Nonetheless, 3D films were prominently featured in the 1950s in American cinema, and later experienced a worldwide resurgence in the 1980s and 1990s driven by IMAX high-end theaters and Disney-themed venues. 3D films became increasingly successful throughout the 2000s, peaking with the success of 3D presentations of ''Avatar'' in December 2009, after which 3D films again decreased in popularity.
