Edmund Ashfield (Catholic Agent)
Edmund Ashfield (1576ca. 1620) was an English Catholic from Tattenhoe in Buckinghamshire. In 1599 he travelled to Edinburgh to meet James VI of Scotland. An English diplomat organised his kidnap and rendition in the belief that Ashfield was an agent of James VI and working to further his succession to the English throne. Background Ashfield was a grandson of Christopher Ashfield of Chesham, who was a brother of Sir Edmund Ashfield (1480-1558). He was educated at St Mary Hall, Oxford. He married Clara Hoord or Whorde in 1588. An aunt or cousin Cecily Ashfield was married to the Lord Chancellor Sir John Fortescue of Salden. Edmund's uncle Thomas Ashfield was a bailiff for the Earl of Oxford in 1571, and Edmund was Thomas's heir in 1609. Edmund Ashfield ( fl. 1660–1690) was an English portrait painter and miniaturist, who worked in both oils and pastels. Life Ashfield came from a Buckinghamshire family and was a pupil of John Michael Wright (1617–94). He worked both in oil and in pastel; according to Robert Edmund Graves, he excelled most in the latter. Vertue mentions a neatly painted head by him of Sir John Bennett (afterwards Lord Ossulston). Keith Ashfield
Keith John Ashfield (March 28, 1952 – April 22, 2018) was a Canadian politician. He served as the member of Parliament (MP) for the electoral district of Fredericton from 2008 to 2015 and, before that, was a member of the New Brunswick Legislature from 1999 to 2008. He served in the federal cabinet in various capacities from 2008 to 2013. Early life The son of Jack Ashfield and Nora Locke, he studied Business at the University of New Brunswick for two years. Political career Provincial Ashfield was a school trustee for a number of years and was first a candidate for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 1991 election. A Progressive Conservative, Ashfield placed third with Confederation of Regions candidate Max White being victorious. Kim Ashfield (born 5 January 1959) is a former model from Wales who was awarded the title of Miss United Kingdom in 1980. As Miss Wales, she competed in Miss Universe 1980. As Miss United Kingdom, she placed as the 4th runner-up in Miss World 1980. Pageants Ashfield won the Miss Wales title early in 1980 and went on to represent Wales at Miss Universe 1980 on 8 July in Seoul, where she was unplaced. Lieutenant Lionel Arthur Ashfield DFC (1 August 1898 – 16 July 1918) was a World War I British flying ace credited with seven aerial victories. Background The second son of Charles Edmund Ashfield and his wife Ida Lucy Hunt, Lionel Arthur Ashfield was born on 1 August 1898 at Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, England. He was christened there on 28 August 1898. His father was the headmaster of Hazelhurst School in Frant, East Sussex. Lionel attended Marlborough College in Marlborough, Wiltshire, where he played cricket. He was admitted to the school in September 1912 and left in the spring of 1917. Military career Lionel Ashfield joined the Royal Naval Air Service on 29 April 1917. He was first stationed at Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey, Kent in June 1917. Robert Ashfield (28 July 1911 – 30 December 2006) was an English cathedral organist, choirmaster and composer. Early life and education Robert James Ashfield was born in 1911 at Chipstead, Surrey. Educated at Tonbridge School and the Royal College of Music (RCM), he inherited his considerable musical talent from his mother, a fine amateur musician. At the RCM he was taught and inspired by Sir Ernest Bullock, then organist of Westminster Abbey, and became his assistant. Ashfield became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists in 1932, and then served as organist of St John's, Smith Square, London, from 1934 until 1941. After being awarded his doctorate by the University of London in 1941, he served in the Army during the Second World War. Stephen Ashfield is an Olivier Award-winning Scottish actor. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and since graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has enjoyed a successful stage career.
