Asher Howard
Asher Howard (May 25, 1877 – July 7, 1945) was an American lawyer and politician. Howard was born on a farm near Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa. He went to law school and had studied business education. He lived in Chicago, Illinois for seven years and then moved to Kanabec County, Minnesota in 1902 where he served as the Kanabec County Attorney from 1908 to 1910. In 1910. he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife and family and continued to practice law. Howard was also involved in the grain business. Webster City, Iowa
Webster City is a city in Hamilton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 7,825 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Hamilton County. Webster City is known as 'Boone River Country', as the Boone River meanders along the east side of the city. History Webster City was originally called Newcastle by settlers of European descent. Under the latter name it was changed in 1854 by Wilson Brewer. In 1855, Walter C. Willson came to Newcastle. Willson was elected to the Iowa State House the next year and, with John F. Duncombe, crafted a bill to divide the very large Webster County in half. Newcastle would be renamed "Webster City," named after Daniel Webster of Massachusetts and would become the county seat of the new county. Willson suggested "Hamilton County" after William W. Kanabec County ( ) is a county in the East Central part of U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,032. Its county seat is Mora. History The Minnesota legislature authorized creation of Kanabec County on March 13, 1858, with territory partitioned from Pine County. No county seat was designated at that time, and the county organization was not effected at that time. The county name came from the Ojibwe term ''ginebig'', meaning "snake," after the Snake River — ''Kanabecosippi'' (''Ginebigo-ziibi'' in the modern spelling) — which flows through the county. The area of Kanabec County was attached to Chisago County for administrative and judicial purposes.
