Asghar Dirbaz
Hujjat al-IslamAsghar Dirbaz ( fa, عسگر دیرباز, born 1959 in Mianeh, East Azerbaijan) is an Iranian Shiite cleric, author and politician. He is a member of 4th and 5th Assembly of Experts from the West Azerbaijan electorate. Dirbaz won his membership with 1,208,599 votes in the midterm election on 22 March 2013. He was reelected in the 2016 elections. He is also the president of University of Qom. Assembly Of Experts
The Assembly of Experts ( fa, مجلس خبرگان رهبری, majles-e khobregân-e rahbari), also translated as the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership or as the Council of Experts, is the deliberative body empowered to appoint the Supreme Leader of Iran. All directly elected members must first be vetted by the Guardian Council. All candidates to the Assembly of Experts must be approved by the Guardian Council whose members are, in turn, appointed either directly or indirectly by the Supreme Leader. The Assembly consists of 88 Mujtahids that are elected(see Article 108 of the constitution) from lists of thoroughly vetted candidates (in 2016 166 candidates were approved by the Guardians out of 801 who applied to run for the office), by direct public vote for eight-year terms. The number of members has ranged from 82 elected in 1982 to 88 elected in 2016. Current laws require the assembly to meet at least twice every six months. University of Qom ( fa, دانشگاه قم) is an Iranian public university located in Qom. 2016 Iranian Assembly Of Experts Election
The fifth Iranian Assembly of Experts election were held in Iran on 26 February 2016 to elect the members of the Assembly of Experts. All 88 members of the Assembly of Experts, who are known as mujtahids, are directly elected. The elections had been planned for 2014, but were delayed in order for the election to be held alongside the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections.
