Asaf Zeynally Music College
The Baku Musical College (now the Azerbaijan National Conservatory Music College) is a state college of professional secondary education in Baku and one of the leading secondary musical schools of Azerbaijan. General information Baku Musical College is a four-year special secondary school. About 1,400 students study and 400 pedagogues teach there. More than 8,000 musical personnel studied in this college since its foundation. Nazim Kazimov, "Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan" is a chairman of the college. History In 1885, Antonina Yermolayeva, alumni of the Moscow Conservatory, opened a private music school with the support of her sisters Yelizaveta and Yevgeniya. Ahmad Bakikhanov
Ahmadagha Mammadrza oghlu Bakikhanov ( az, Əhmədağa Məmmədrza oğlu Bakıxanov, September 5, 1892 — March 26, 1973) was an Azerbaijani tar player, pedagogue. He was awarded the title People's Artiste of the Azerbaijan SSR, and Honored Teacher of the Azerbaijan SSR. Biography Ahmad Bakikhanov was born on September 5, 1892, in Baku. He has performed at music gatherings and concerts in Baku since 1920. From the 1930s, he taught mugham at the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire at the invitation of Uzeyir Hajibeyov and then at the Azerbaijan State Music College. Ahmadagha Bakikhanov created Azerbaijan State Folk Instruments Ensemble in 1931 and he led the ensemble until the end of his life. Lutfiyar Imanov
Lutfiyar Muslum oglu Imanov ( az, Lütfiyar İmanov; 17 April 1928 in Sabirabad – 21 January 2008 in Baku), was a Soviet and Azerbaijani opera singer (dramatic tenor). Career Lutfiyar Imanov started his career in the arts as a teenage actor at the Sabirabad State Drama Theatre. He graduated from the Asaf Zeynally Music College with a degree in vocal arts in 1957. At the time, he had been working with various Azerbaijani choirs and orchestras. He made his operatic debut in 1957 when he performed in the leading role in Uzeyir Hajibeyov's opera ''Koroghlu'' in Moscow. Alim Qasimov
Alim Hamza oghlu Qasimov ( az, Alim Həmzə oğlu Qasımov; born August 14, 1957) is an Azerbaijani musician and one of the foremost mugham singers in Azerbaijan. He was awarded the International Music Council-UNESCO Music Prize in 1999, one of the highest international accolades for music. His music is characterized by his vocal improvisation and represents a move away from the traditional style of mugham. Qasimov has recorded nine albums, three of which are mugham albums with his daughter, Farghana Qasimova.
