Asa Grover
Asa Porter Grover (February 18, 1819 – July 20, 1887) was a United States representative from Kentucky. He was born near Phelps, New York where he attended the common schools before moving to Kentucky in 1837. He attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and taught school in Woodford and Franklin Counties. In addition, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1843 and commenced practice in Owenton, Kentucky. Grover was a member of the Kentucky Senate 1857-1865 and a member of the Democratic State convention in 1863. Woodford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,871. Its county seat is Versailles. The area was home to Pisgah Academy. Woodford County is part of the Lexington-Fayette, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located in the heart of the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. History The county was formed from a part of Fayette County, Virginia in 1788. It was named for William Woodford, an American Revolutionary War general from Virginia who died while a prisoner of war in 1780. It was the last of the original nine counties established that formed the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1792. Scott County was formed from part of the county in 1792. Owenton is a list of Kentucky cities, home rule-class city in and the county seat of Owen County, Kentucky, Owen County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,327 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 51,541. Its county seat is Frankfort, the state capital. The county was formed in 1795 from parts of Woodford, Mercer and Shelby counties, and was named after the American inventor and statesman Benjamin Franklin. Franklin County is part of the Frankfort, Kentucky Micropolitan Statistical Area. It shares a name with Franklin County in Ohio, where Columbus is located. This makes it one of two pairs of capital cities in counties of the same name, along with Marion Counties in Oregon and Indiana.
