''As White as in Snow'' (Swedish language, Swedish title: ''Så vit som en snö'') is a Sweden, Swedish film which was released to cinemas in Sweden on 16 February 2001, directed by Jan Troell. It won three Guldbagge Awards, for Guldbagge Award for Best Film, best film, Guldbagge Award for Best Director, best direction and best cinematography, and was nominated for Guldbagge Award for Best Screenplay, best screenplay. The screenplay is based on the novel ''Den ofullbordade himlen'' by Jacques Werup, which in turn is very loosely inspired by the life of Elsa Andersson, the first woman aviator in Sweden. She is portrayed by Amanda Ooms in the movie. Other key characters are played by Björn Granath, Stina Ekblad, Shanti Roney, Björn Kjellman, Reine Brynolfsson and Rikard Wolff. The grammatically awkward title (literally translated ''"As white as a snow"'') is a quote from a poem/song (''"Lejonbruden"''), which is performed in the movie. Jan Troell
Jan Gustaf Troell (born 23 July 1931) is a Swedish writer-director, and cinematographer. His realistic films, with a lyrical photography in which nature is prominent, have placed him in the first rank of modern Swedish film directors along with Ingmar Bergman and Bo Widerberg. Life and career Troell was born in Limhamn outside Malmö, Sweden. For several years, he worked as an elementary-school teacher but started to make short films in the sixties. In 1965 he co-produced the film ''4x4'' and it was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. He became director of photography for Widerberg but soon made a debut with his own first feature, '' Here's Your Life'' (''Här har du ditt liv'', 1966), about a working class boy in Sweden, set in the beginning of the 20th century. Shanti Grau Roney (born 24 November 1970) is a Swedish actor. While his film credits include nearly twenty movies, most of these have been limited to a domestic or Scandinavian release. One notable exception is Lukas Moodysson's film ''Together'' (2000) which gathered acclaim at film festivals worldwide. In television, he had a prominent role in the popular series ''Tusenbröder'' while also featuring in the Danish series ''The Eagle'' which won an International Emmy Award in 2005. Maria Heiskanen (born 21 August 1970) is a Finnish actress. She works in cinema, television and theatre. Life Heiskanen's early role in the 1991 Swedish film '' Il Capitano: A Swedish Requiem'' directed by Jan Troell. For her role Heiskanen won the Gold Plaque Award in Chicago International Film Festival for the Best Actress in 1992. Heiskanen lived in Sweden 1993–2003 and worked in movies and theatre. Enoch Thulin
Enoch Leonard Thulin, (15 September 1881 – 14 May 1919) is primarily remembered as a pioneer of the Swedish aircraft industry. He was an engineer who also worked on cars, lorries and internal combustion engines. Enoch was born in Simris, Scania, in the south of Sweden. He studied aeronautics 1908-12 and succeeded with flying attempts in 1912. He wrote a thesis on aerodynamics and received a Ph.D. from Lund University in 1912. Thulin lived in Landskrona, where he amongst other things founded AB Thulinverken in 1914 to build aeroplanes; today the company is known as Haldex and manufactures pneumatic brake systems for trains and lorries (trucks).
