As One (film)
''As One'' (; lit. "Korea") is a 2012 South Korean sports drama film starring Ha Ji-won and Bae Doona. It is a cinematic retelling of the first ever post-war Unified Korea sports team which won the women's team gold medal at the 1991 World Table Tennis Championships in Chiba, Japan. Director Moon Hyun-sung used the foundation of true events to tell the story of a team that united a divided nation for the first time in its painful history. Background Following the North Korean mid-air bombing of Korean Air Flight 858 in 1987, a Summit was held between North and South Korea to defuse the extreme tension on the Korean peninsula. Li Bun-hui (; born December 29, 1968) is a former table tennis player from North Korea who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics. Table tennis career She won eight World Table Tennis Championship medals. She won a bronze medal at the 1983 World Table Tennis Championships in the Corbillon Cup (women's team event). Two years later she won a silver medal in the women's team and during the 1987 World Table Tennis Championships she won a bronze in the women's doubles with Cho Jung-hui. Her next medals came in the singles at the 1989 and 1991 and also in 1991 she won a mixed doubles bronze with Kim Song-hui and a gold medal in the team event with Hong Cha-ok, Hyun Jung-hwa and Yu Sun-bok in a unified Korean team. Park Chul-min (born January 18, 1967) is a South Korean actor. Career Park Chul-min began acting in his high school drama club at Chosun University High School, and though he majored in Business Administration at Chung-Ang University, he spent majority of his college years in theater circles. Unification Flag
The Korean Unification Flag is a flag designed to represent all of Korea when North and South Korea participate as one team in sporting events. History North and South Korea initially planned to compete as one team at the 1990 Asian Games, and conceived the Korean Unification Flag amid logistical difficulties with raising two flags at once. While the unified team effort was not realized, the flag was prominently displayed by an unofficial cheerleading group during the Games. The flag was first officially used in 1991 when the two countries competed together as a single team in the 41st World Table Tennis Championships in Chiba, Japan. Design The background is white.
