Arwarbukarl Cultural Resource Association
Miromaa Aboriginal Language and Technology Centre, formerly the Arwarbukarl Cultural Resource Association, is an Australian community organisation servicing the Awabakal people in coastal New South Wales. The organisation has developed a software program Miromaa, which means "saved" in Awabakal language Awabakal (also Awabagal or the Hunter River – Lake Macquarie, often abbreviated HRLM ) language is an Australian Aboriginal language that was spoken around Lake Macquarie and Newcastle in New South Wales. Awabakal People
The Awabakal people , are those Aboriginal Australians who identify with or are descended from the Awabakal tribe and its clans, Indigenous to the coastal area of what is now known as the Hunter Region of New South Wales. Their traditional territory spread from Wollombi in the west, to the Lower Hunter River near Newcastle and Lake Macquarie in the north. The name Kuringgai, also written Guringai, has often been used as a collective denominator of the Awabakal and several other tribes in this belt, but Norman Tindale has challenged it as an arbitrary coinage devised by ethnologist John Fraser in 1892. For Tindale, Kuringgai was synonymous with Awabakal. Arthur Capell however asserted that there was indeed evidence for a distinct Kuringgai language, which, in Tindale's schema, would imply they were a distinct people from the Awabakal. Awabakal (also Awabagal or the Hunter River – Lake Macquarie, often abbreviated HRLM ) language is an Australian Aboriginal language that was spoken around Lake Macquarie and Newcastle in New South Wales. It was studied by missionary Lancelot Threlkeld in the 19th century, who wrote a grammar of the language, but the spoken language had died out before 21st-century revival efforts. ABC Newcastle (call sign: 2NC) is an Australian radio station. It is the Newcastle, New South Wales, Newcastle station of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ABC local radio network, and is licensed to, and serving Newcastle and surrounding areas. It operates on the Amplitude modulation, AM band at 1233 kilohertz. Formerly known by its callsign 2NC, the NC in the callsign is short for ''N''ew''c''astle, while the 2 represents the state of New South Wales. The station was established in 1930. History 2NC was the very first regional radio station in Australia outside a capital city. It was set up by Adrian Jose.
