''Arven'' (also known as ''Next of Kin'') is a 1979 Norwegian drama film directed by Anja Breien. It was entered into the 1979 Cannes Film Festival. Plot At a funeral for a successful business man, the last will and testament is to be read. People at the funeral will all inherit the family company if it is jointly run by all the heirs. Anja Breien
Anja Breien (born 12 July 1940) is a Norwegian film director and screenwriter. One of the leading figures of the Norwegian film industry, and one of the first women to rise to prominence as a writer-director in Norway, Breien's body of work in fiction and documentary explores social and political issues, notably women's rights within the context of Norwegian society. Career After completing her studies in French at the University of Oslo, Breien went on to graduate from the French film school L'Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC) in 1964. She began working in film as a script supervisor on the Nils R. Müller film ''Det Store Varpet'' in 1961. She also worked as an assistant director on ''Hunger'' (''Sult'') (1966), directed by Henning Carlsen and based on the novel by Knut Hamsun. Pelle Christensen
Per "Pelle" Christensen (9 March 1923 – 30 July 1995) was a Norwegian actor and translator. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Gerda Ring and Halfdan Christensen and brother of Bab Christensen. He made his stage debut in 1949 at the National Theatre. He worked here until 1958, then at Rogaland Teater from 1958 and Den Nationale Scene from 1962. Svein Sturla Hungnes (born 21 March 1946) is a Norwegian actor, theatre director, and instructor. Hungnes studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre from 1965 to 1970, and had several small roles at Nationaltheatret during that time. After he had finished with his exams in winter 1970, he made his real debut, when he played tough young boy Joey in ''the Homecoming'' by Harold Pinter. He was noticed, and had larger roles by 1972, when he played Osvald in Ibsen's ''Ghosts'' and Puck in Shakespeare's ''A Midsummer Night's Dream''. Hungnes was one of the leading actors at Nationaltheatret in the 1970s and 80s, when he also led many instructional exercises. Jonas Brunvoll
Jonas Brunvoll (3 August 1920 – 6 April 1982) was a Norwegian opera singer and actor. Personal life Brunvoll was born in Bærum; the son of Jonas Brunvoll and Kirsten Sørsdal, and was a brother of Gunnar Brunvoll. During the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was involved in civil resistance. He was first arrested in October 1941, and held at Bredtveit Prison for a short period. He was then arrested in January 1942 and held at Møllergata 19 until 4 March, when he was incarcerated at Grini until 20 March, and then transferred to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Germany. In the memoir book ''3 fra Sachsenhausen'' fellow prisoner and newspaper editor Olav Larssen recalls cultural activities in the camp, and mentions that Brunvoll would sing in such a way that prisoners forgot their surroundings, both at Grini and Sachsenhausen.
