Arun Thapa
Arun Thapa Magar (born January 1952– 22 July 1999) was a Nepali singer and songwriter. In 2003, according to an international poll conducted by BBC, more than half-a million people from 165 countries voted his composition ''Reetu haruma timi hariyali basant (You are the spring amongst the seasons)'', his most famous romantic song, as the seventh in the world's top 10 most popular songs of all time. Personal life Arun Thapa was born in Calcutta, India on 6 January 1952. His father was Ganju Prasad Thapa. His parents moved back to Nepal when Arun was 3 months old. He studied and grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal. He first studied in a school in Gana Bahal Tole then at JP School in Chettrapati, Kathmandu. Later he studied in Turnbull High school in Darjeeling, coming back to complete his School Leaving Certificate (SLC) from Kathmandu in 1971. He later studied at Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara for an Intermediate in Arts degree but soon dropped out to pursue a career in music. Career ... Magar People
The Magar, also spelled as Mangar, and Mongar, are the third largest ethnolinguistic groups of Nepal, indigenous to Western Nepal and representing 7.1% of Nepal's total population according to the 2011 Nepal census. The original home of the Magar people was to the west of Gandaki river, and roughly speaking, consisted of that portion of Nepal which lies between and around about Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, and Palpa. This part of the country was divided into twelve districts known as "''Bahra Magarat''" (Confederation of Twelve Magar Kingdoms), which included the following regions of that period: Argha, Khanchi, Bhirkot, Dhor, Garhung, Ghiring, Gulmi, Isma, Musikot, Pyung, Rising, Satung, and Pyung. Vikram Samvat (IAST: ''Vikrama Samvat''; abbreviated VS) or Bikram Sambat B.S. and also known as the Vikrami calendar, is a Hindu calendar historically used in the Indian subcontinent. Radio Nepal ( ne, रेडियो नेपाल) is the state-owned Radio broadcasting organisation of Nepal. It was established 2 April 1951. Radio Nepal airs programs on short wave, medium wave (AM broadcasting, AM) and FM broadcasting, FM frequencies. Regular broadcasts consume sixteen hours every day, including two hours of regional broadcasts. Public holidays feature an additional two hours. FM Kathmandu, the first FM channel covering Kathmandu valley and adjoining areas, was started in 1995 in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu. On 19 May 2016, An environmental song, Melancholy (song), Melancholy was recorded by 365 renowned Nepali singers and musicians in a single day at Radio Nepal studio. Deep Shrestha ( ne, दीप श्रेष्ठ) is a Nepalese singer and musician. Deep Shrestha is one of the coaches in ''The Voice of Nepal'' Season 1 (2018) and 2 (2019). "Jhaskiyecha Maan Mero", "Biteka Kura Le" and "Ma Ta Door Dekhi Aye" are among his popular songs. Early life Shrestha composed his first song "Ma Patharko Deuta Haina" when he was 14. He comes from a musical family in Dharan, Nepal. His father Jaya Narayan Shrestha was an ''ustaad'' and played violin and flute. His mother Indira Shrestha was a singer. Deep met other musicians early through his father. Deep Shrestha studied bioscience after he passed his SLC exams.
