The Aruban Olympic Committee ( pap, Comité Olímpico Arubano) was established in 1985 after Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles. Previously, Aruba was represented by the Netherlands Antilles Olympic Committee (NAOC). It received recognition the following year from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Judo At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Men's 66 kg
Men's 66 kg competition in judo at the 2000 Summer Olympics was held on 17 September at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event was the second-lightest of the men's judo weight classes, limiting competitors to a maximum of 66 kilograms of body mass. Like all other judo events, bouts lasted five minutes. If the bout was still tied at the end, it was extended for another five-minute, sudden-death period; if neither judoka scored during that period, the match is decided by the judges. The tournament bracket consisted of a single-elimination contest culminating in a gold medal match. There was also a repechage to determine the winners of the two bronze medals. Each judoka who had lost to a semifinalist competed in the repechage. Roshendra Julienne Mercedes Vrolijk (born November 3, 1984) is an Aruban former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She is one of Aruba's first Olympic swimmers, alongside Davy Bisslik, and also a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004). Vrolijk made her Olympic debut, as Aruba's youngest athlete (aged 15), at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where she competed in the women's 50 m freestyle. Andrew Collett (born 8 November 1978) is an Australian judoka, who competed in the men's lightweight category. He held seven Australian senior titles in his own division, picked up a total of sixteen medals in his career, including two golds from the Oceania Championships, and represented his nation Australia in two editions of the Olympic Games (2000 and 2004).
