Arty (magazine)
''Arty'' is an independent British art fanzine started by the artist Cathy Lomax in 2001. Lomax is also the editor. ''Arty'' is for art fans written by artists themselves and published by Transition Gallery's editions department, the artist-run space in East London. History ''Arty'' was founded in 2001 in London by Cathy Lomax. It is published twice a year and sold across the UK, including the Tate Modern, Tate Britain and ICA in London. Frustrated by opportunities for emerging artists to voice their opinions and concerns and inspired by zine culture, artist Cathy Lomax started Arty as an antidote to dry, critic led writing about art. The first 20 issues were photocopied and stapled and featured eclectic artist led content including reviews of contemporary art and numerous exclusive drawings from over 30 prominent and emerging artists from around the world. Jasper Joffe
Jasper Joffe (born 1975) is a British publisher at Joffe Books contemporary artist and novelist who lives and works in London. Life and work Joffe is the brother of artist Chantal Joffe. He studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford. He completed an MA in painting at The Royal College of Art in London and received the British Prix de Rome scholarship to the British School at Rome, where he spent nine months. He has had solo exhibitions in London, Rome and Milan. He is the author of "Water" published by Telegram Books in 2006. On graduating from the Royal College of Art, Joffe painted 24 paintings in 24 hours at the Chisenhale Gallery in 1999, each canvas was 12 feet by 6 feet. In 2000 he repeated the feat in Milan at Laura Pecci Gallery, although this time the paintings were a variety of sizes. Contemporary Art Magazines
Contemporary history, in English-language historiography, is a subset of modern history that describes the historical period from approximately 1945 to the present. Contemporary history is either a subset of the late modern period, or it is one of the three major subsets of modern history, alongside the early modern period and the late modern period. Gilbert Prousch, sometimes referred to as Gilbert Proesch (born 17 September 1943 in San Martin de Tor, Italy), and George Passmore (born 8 January 1942 in Plymouth, United Kingdom), are two artists who work together as the collaborative art duo Gilbert & George. White Cube is a contemporary art gallery founded by Jay Jopling in London in 1993. Tracey Karima Emin, Order of the British Empire, CBE, Associate of the Royal Academy, RA (; born 3 July 1963) is a British artist known for her autobiographical and confessional artwork. Harry Pye
Harry William Pye (born 31 August 1973) is a British artist, writer, and event organizer. Early life Pye was born in London. He completed a foundation course at Camberwell School of Art in 1991. He then studied printmaking at Winchester School of Art from 1992 to 1995. In his second year he stopped painting and printmaking and began making films. His first films were interviews with artist and tutor Bruce McLean, and he has since interviewed many other artists including Humphrey Ocean, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Keith Tyson for various publications including ''The Face'', '' Turps Banana'', and ''Untitled''. He has also edited and published numerous art based fanzines of his own, such as "Harry Pye's FRANK Magazine", which ran from 1995 to 2000.
