''Artvoice'' is an American web based publication covering arts, business, and general editorial news nationally and internationally. Artvoice began in Buffalo, New York, in 1990 as a free weekly print publication with a 65,000 circulation. ''Artvoice'' covered arts, theater, music, food, sports, politics, urban development and environmental issues in the Buffalo region. Artvoice first published content online in 1996. It was founded by Jamie Moses in 1990. It had an ownership change in 2015. In 2010, ''Artvoice'' celebrated its 20th anniversary in its June edition with a time frame of the history of the publication. It also celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015 with a party celebrating performing and visual arts. The 2015 change in ownership also signaled a change in the editorial direction of the newspaper. ''The Public'' is an alternative newsweekly which publishes 35,000 copies each Wednesday in Buffalo, New York, United States. It focuses on Buffalo-area art, music, culture, and politics. ''The Public'' was founded in 2014 when several of the writers and editors of fellow weekly paper, Artvoice left following concerns about that paper's finances and internal conflicts. The former Artvoice contributors were joined by several new contributors. ''The Public'' features locally created art on its covers and in weekly centerfolds. The ''Niagara Reporter'' is a weekly newspaper hosted in Niagara Falls, New York. It was founded on June 28, 2000 by journalist Mike Hudson. The newspaper is currently owned by Frank R. Parlato, Jr., who additionally serves as one of the newspaper's contributors. The paper conducts investigative reporting which focuses on public corruption, politics, and local news. The ''Niagara Reporter'' has also begun accepting classified ads and serves as one of the largest news publications in Niagara County. Frank Dux
Frank William Dux (; born April 6, 1956) is a Canadian-American martial artist and fight choreographer. According to Dux, a ninjutsu expert named Senzo Tanaka trained him as a ninja when he was a teenager. He established his own school of ninjutsu called Dux Ryu Ninjutsu, and has said he won a secret martial arts tournament called the Kumite in 1975. His alleged victory at the Kumite served as the inspiration for the 1988 film ''Bloodsport'' starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Dux's victory at the Kumite has been disputed, as has the existence of both the Kumite he described and Senzo Tanaka. Dux served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1975 to 1981, and claims he was sent on covert missions to Southeast Asia and awarded the Medal of Honor. NXIVM () is the name commonly used to describe the personality cult of imprisoned racketeer and sex offender Keith Raniere. NXIVM is also the trademarked name of the defunct corporation that Raniere founded, which provided seminars and videos in the field of human potential development. The United States seized ownership of NXIVM related entities and their intellectual property through asset forfeiture following Raniere's conviction. The NXIVM Corporation was based in the New York Capital District and had centers throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
