Arts Horizons
Arts Horizons is a not-for-profit arts-in-education organization that provides live professional performances and artist-in-residence programs to students and professional development for teachers throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Arts Horizons’ mission is "to foster development of the whole person and to improve education by delivering quality arts programs and activities to schools and communities." The organization was founded in 1978 by John Devol under the name "Festival of Music." In 1995, the organization changed its title to "Arts Horizons". Arts Horizons has, since its founding, presented programs to over eight million students, teachers and community members. In 2008 Arts Horizons created the Paul Newman Award for Services to Arts and Children. The award is bestowed to individuals who have exhibited outstanding contributions to arts education. LeRoy Neiman
LeRoy Neiman (born LeRoy Leslie Runquist, June 8, 1921 – June 20, 2012) was an American artist known for his brilliantly colored, expressionist paintings and screenprints of athletes, musicians, and sporting events. Early life Neiman was born in 1921 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Lydia Sophia (née Serline), of Braham, Minnesota,Grossmann, Mary Ann"St. Paul played big role in painter Neiman's colorful life" '' St. Paul Pioneer Press'', June 21, 2012 and Charles Julius Runquist, who were married in 1918 and lived in Grasston, Minnesota ( Kanabec County). Paul Frederic Simon (born October 13, 1941) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and actor whose career has spanned six decades. He is one of the most acclaimed songwriters in popular music, both as a solo artist and as half of folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel with Art Garfunkel. Simon was born in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in the Queens, borough of Queens in New York City. He began performing with his schoolfriend Art Garfunkel in 1956 when they were still in their early teens. Bonnie Comley is an American three-time Tony Award-winning theatre producer. She has won an Olivier Award and two Drama Desk Awards for her stage productions. She is a member of The Broadway League and serves on their Audience Engagement and Education Committee. Marvin Frederick Hamlisch (June 2, 1944 – August 6, 2012) was an American composer and conductor. Hamlisch was one of only seventeen people to win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. This collection of all four is referred to as an " EGOT". He is one of only two people (along with composer Richard Rodgers) to have won those four prizes and a Pulitzer Prize (" PEGOT").
