Artios
The Casting Society, formerly known as Casting Society of America (CSA), was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1982 as a professional society of about 1,200 casting directors and associate casting directors for film, television, theatre, and commercials in Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, and the United States. The nonprofit organization announced the name change from Casting Society of America to Casting Society on February 10, 2022. The society is not to be confused with an industry union. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represent most (though not all) of the major casting directors and associate casting directors in Hollywood. Members use the post-nominal letters "CSA" when credited for their work. 38th Artios Awards
The 38th Artios Awards, presented by the Casting Society of America, honoring the best originality, creativity and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of a film, television series, short film, short-form series and theatre production, were held on March 9, 2023, simultaneously at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and Edison Ballroom in New York, being the first time in two years that the ceremony was an in-person event. The nominations for the television, short-form project, and theatre categories were announced on October 17, 2022. The nominees for the film categories were announced on January 10, 2023. Yvette Nicole Brown and Amber Ruffin both hosted the event simultaneously. It was originally scheduled to be held on March 17, 2022. The nominations for the television, theatre, shorts and shortform series categories were announced on November 22, 2021. The nominees for the film categories were announced on January 31, 2022. Reuben Cannon
Reuben Cannon (born February 11, 1946 ) is an American film producer and casting director. Cannon was the first black casting director in Hollywood; he was the head of television casting for Warner Brothers from 1977 to 1978, and started his own casting agency in 1978 (Reuben Cannon & Associates). Through this company, he has cast nearly 100 television series, made-for-TV movies, and feature films. ''Amadeus'' is a 1984 American period biographical drama film directed by Miloš Forman and adapted by Peter Shaffer from his 1979 stage play ''Amadeus''. The Artios Award for Outstanding Achievement in Casting – Big Budget Feature (Drama) is an award handed out annually by the Casting Society of America. The award, in its current incarnation, was first awarded in 2009, when the category made the distinction of award comedic films with larger budgets, and studio backing.
