In 1965, he won second prize in the VII International Chopin Piano Competition, as well as the audience prize and best sonata performance. Brasílio Itiberê Da Cunha
Brasílio Itiberê da Cunha (1 August 1846 – 11 August 1913) was a Brazilian composer, lawyer and diplomat. Itiberê was the sibling of poet and critic (literary and musical) and uncle of composer . Biography Brasílio Itiberê was born in the coastal city of Paranaguá, the son of John Manuel da Cunha and Maria Munhoz Lourenço da Cunha. He attended primary school in his homeland and his musical initiation was at the piano, learning at his parents' home. Already renowned as a pianist in his youth he moved to São Paulo to attend the Faculty of Law at the Largo of São Francisco, performing several concerts in this city. After obtaining a BA in Law he joined the diplomatic service in the diplomatic corps serving in Italy, Peru, Belgium, Paraguay and Germany. Ernesto Nazareth
Ernesto Júlio de Nazareth (March 20, 1863 – February 1, 1934) was a Brazilian composer and pianist, especially noted for his creative Maxixe and Choro compositions. Influenced by a diverse set of rhythms like the polka, the habanera, and the lundu, he combined this elements with his classical formation to create compositions that he called “Brazilian tangos". These would be the precursors for what is known today as Choro. His piano repertoire is now part of the teaching programs of both classical and popular styles, as Nazareth once served at the boundary between these two worlds. International Tchaikovsky Competition
The International Tchaikovsky Competition is a classical music competition held every four years in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia, for pianists, violinists, and cellists between 16 and 32 years of age and singers between 19 and 32 years of age. The competition is named after Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It was a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions until April 2022, when it was excluded due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The International Tchaikovsky Competition was the first international music competition held in the Soviet Union.
