Arthur Leslie Cameron
Arthur Leslie Cameron (May 6, 1856 – January 22, 1940) was the tenth mayor of Calgary. His second term was after the creation of the Province of Alberta. Cameron was born in Springfield, Ontario, on May 6, 1856, to Charles and Jennie (Bell) Cameron. After a builders' apprenticeship in Toronto, Ontario, he decided to move west in 1878. He first went to Manitoba, spending time in Emerson and Brandon. In Brandon, he worked in the lumber business. Here he met Elizabeth Parrish (b. 1860 Brock, Ontario) and in 1882 they were married, Elizabeth's brother was Manitoba MLA William Parrish. Cameron would serve in the Riel rebellion, and in 1886, they moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta. In 1888, Cameron moved to a fledgling Calgary. William Parrish
William Linton Parrish (August 6, 1860 – February 20, 1949) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1914 to 1920 as a member of the Liberal Party. Biography Parrish was born in Vroomanton, Canada West (now Ontario), the son of Samuel Parrish and Jane Cash, and was educated at Uxbridge. He began work in the grain trade with his father and then, in 1879, moved to Huntsville where he operated a grist and flour mill. In 1881, Parrish moved to Manitoba and operated as a grain dealer in Brandon and then, later, in Winnipeg. In 1885, he married Annie Ellen Card. He was a member of Brandon town council for two years. Parrish also served as president of the Winnipeg Grain Exchange. In 1909, he co-founded the Parrish & Heimbecker grain company. The ''Calgary Herald'' is a daily newspaper published in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Publication began in 1883 as ''The Calgary Herald, Mining and Ranche Advocate, and General Advertiser''. It is owned by the Postmedia Network. Medicine Hat is a city in southeast Alberta, Canada. It is located along the South Saskatchewan River. It is approximately east of Lethbridge and southeast of Calgary.
