Arthur H. Shore
Arthur Herbert Shore (born 19 May 1893) was a mineral Prospecting, prospector and the first person set up a uranium mine in Faraday, Ontario, Faraday Township, Ontario. He co-founded and managed the Reeves feldspar Mine and founded the Faraday Mine, Faraday Uranium Mine. His uranium prospecting, according to Bayne in 1977, led to the "''greatest uranium prospecting rush in the world.''" Early life Arthur Herbert Shore was born in Campbellford in 19 May 1893. His parents were Arthur Shore B.1865 and Mary Margaret Emiline McNaughton 1865-1910. He was the middle child of five with 4 sisters.Personal files of Shore's daughter. Career Shore worked in Bancroft as a box maker, as a dairy worker, and as a miner in Cobalt, Ontario. From 1945 to 1946, Shore was the Managing Director of Bancroft Feldspar Mines Limited, the company that owned and operated Reeves Mine. Prospecting
Prospecting is the first stage of the geological analysis (followed by exploration) of a territory. It is the search for minerals, fossils, precious metals, or mineral specimens. It is also known as fossicking. Traditionally prospecting relied on direct observation of mineralization in rock outcrops or in sediments. Modern prospecting also includes the use of geologic, geophysical, and geochemical tools to search for anomalies which can narrow the search area. Once an anomaly has been identified and interpreted to be a potential prospect direct observation can then be focused on this area. In some areas a prospector must also make claims, meaning they must erect posts with the appropriate placards on all four corners of a desired land they wish to prospect and register this claim before they may take samples.
