Arthur George Frederick Griffiths (9 December 1838 – 24 March 1908) was a British military officer, prison administrator and author who published more than 60 books during his lifetime. He was also a military historian who wrote extensively about the wars of the 19th century, and was for a time military correspondent for ''The Times'' newspaper. Upbringing and career Griffiths was born on 9 December 1838, at Poona, India, the second son of Lieut.-colonel John Griffiths of the 6th Royal Warwickshire regiment. After graduating from King William's College on the Isle of Man, Arthur Griffiths joined the British Army as an ensign in the 63rd Regiment of Foot on 13 February 1855. Serving in the Crimean War, Griffiths participated in the siege of Sevastopol. Arthur Griffiths (born 16 March 1879) was a professional footballer who played for Bristol Rovers and Notts County. Playing as a full-back, Griffiths joined Bristol Rovers (then known as Bristol Eastville Rovers) in 1897 from Lozells. During his first two seasons Rovers played in both the Birmingham & District League and the professional section of the Western League, before becoming founder members of the Southern League in 1899. He went on to play 105 games for Rovers in the Southern League, scoring once, before joining Football League First Division side Notts County Notts County Football Club is a professional association football club based in Nottingham, England. Arthur Edwin Griffiths (1885 – 1944) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Oldham Athletic and Stoke. Career Griffiths was born in Stoke-upon-Trent and joined Stoke from Hartshill in 1904. He made his debut for Stoke at the age of 20 and scored his first goal against Everton on 3 April 1906. When Stoke went out the Football League at the end of the 1907–08 due to heavy finical problems Griffiths left and signed for Second Division side Oldham Athletic. After scoring just 4 goals for the "Latics" in 1908–09 he returned to Stoke and in 1909–10 he had a prolific season in front of goal scoring 38 goals in all competitions. He could not maintain his run in front of goal however and in the next two seasons he scored 13 goals. Arthur Alexander Griffiths (23 April 1908 – 1995) was a Welsh footballer who played in the Football League for Newport County, Rochdale, Stoke City and Torquay United. Career Griffiths was born in Tonypandy had a nomadic career which started with Barry. He then joined Football League Third Division South side Torquay United and then Newport County before returning to Barry. Arthur Griffiths (businessman)
Arthur R. Griffiths (born 1957) is a Canadian businessperson, philanthropist, and former candidate for political office. He is former owner of the Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Grizzlies, and General Motors Place. He chaired the Vancouver/Whistler 2010 Bid Society which helped to bring the 2010 Winter Olympics to the region. Griffiths ran unsuccessfully as the British Columbia Liberal Party, BC Liberal candidate for a 2008 provincial byelection in the Vancouver-Burrard riding. In June 2016, Griffiths was inducted to the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and is the recipient of the W.A.C Bennett Award, which is given "to an individual who has made a significant, unique and lasting contribution to sport in the Province of British Columbia." He and his father Frank are the only father and son that have been bestowed with this honour in the history of BC Sports Hall of Fame.
