Arthur Raymond Brooks
Arthur Raymond Brooks (1 November 1895 – 17 July 1991) was an American World War I flying ace of the United States Army Air Service credited with shooting down multiple enemy aircraft. Among his most prominent achievements was when he single-handedly took on a squadron of German-flown Fokker (Dutch make) planes officially downing 2 of them in one aerial battle piloting his Smith IV Spad XIII. He was a pioneer in the development of radio navigational aids (NAVAIDs) used by pilots for location and navigation as well as air-to-ground communications. Brooks also participated in early endeavors to commercialize aviation as a passenger-carrying business and was one of the earliest commercial pilots involved with carrying mail (air mail) for the US Post Office Department. Arthur Brooks (ice Hockey)
James Arthur Brooks (February 4, 1889 – January 1, 1962) was a Canadian ice hockey goaltender. He played two games each for the Toronto Blueshirts and the Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Toronto Arenas in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1916 and 1919. The 1918 team won the Stanley Cup, however Brooks was released and was not a member of the winning team. Playing career Born in Guelph, Ontario, Brooks played junior hockey for the Guelph Lyons of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) in 1906–07. He turned professional with the Duquesne Athletic Club of the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League in 1908–09. He moved to Owen Sound, Ontario and played amateur hockey with the Owen Sound Seniors of the OHA until 1914, when he enlisted in the military. Arthur Brooks (singer)
The Impressions were an American music group originally formed in 1958. Their repertoire includes gospel, doo-wop, R&B, and soul. The group was founded as the Roosters by Chattanooga, Tennessee natives Sam Gooden, Richard Brooks and Arthur Brooks, who moved to Chicago and added Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield to their line-up to become Jerry Butler & the Impressions. By 1962, Butler and the Brookses had departed, and after switching to ABC-Paramount Records, Mayfield, Gooden, and returning original Impressions' member Fred Cash collectively became a top-selling soul act. Mayfield left the group for a solo career in 1970; Leroy Hutson, Ralph Johnson, Reggie Torian (born Reginald Torian), and Nate Evans (Twinight Records) were among the replacements who joined Gooden and Cash.
