Arthroleptella Rugosa
''Arthroleptella rugosa'' is a species of frog in the family Pyxicephalidae. It is endemic to South Africa and only known from the Klein Swartberg Mountain, an inselberg near Caledon, Western Cape. The specific name ''rugosa'' is Latin for ''wrinkled'' or ''rough'' and refers to the rough appearance of this species (caused by distinct glandular tubercles ) as well as its rough sounding advertisement call. Accordingly, the common name rough moss frog has been suggested for it. Description ''Arthroleptella rugosa'' are small frogs. Males in the type series measured and the single female in snout–vent length. There are a large number of very distinct glandular protuberances on the dorsal surfaces, distinct from all other ''Arthroleptella'' species. The limbs are relatively short. Adults are uniform dark chocolate brown in colour, with slightly paler, irregular dorsolateral bands that may become visible under bright lighting conditions. The sole female was densely speckled dark ...

Description The Bainskloof moss frog is a small frog which reaches a maximum length of 22 mm. The body is rather squat with short limbs and a rounded head. The background colour of its skin varies from orangey brown to black with darker patches and paler spots on the back and legs. Distribution The Bainskloof moss frog is endemic to Riviersonderend Mountains, Dutoitsberg, Elandskloof and Limietberg Mountains in Western Cape Province, South Africa. This species can be found between 300-2,000 m above sea level. The extent of this species total distribution is probably less than 20,000 km². Habitat The Bainskloof moss frog favours wet mossy areas near watercourses, hillside or roadside seepages, and heavily vegetated streams, within montane fynbos and frequently on steep hillsides. Northern Moss Frog
''Arthroleptella subvoce'' is a species of frogs in the family Pyxicephalidae. It is endemic to South Africa and only known from the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Area, Western Cape. Common name northern moss frog has been coined for it. The specific name ''subvoce'' is Latin for "under voice" and refers to the very subdued male advertisement call of this frog. Description Adult males measure and adult females, based on the only female in the type series, in snout–vent length. The snout is bluntly rounded. The pupil is horizontal. The limbs are short and the fingers and toes lack webbing; the toe tips are very slightly expanded. Skin is smooth but there is a pair of slightly elevated, elongated dorsolateral glandular patches. The dorsum has brown ground colour. There is a pair of para-vertebral and a pair of dorso-lateral series of dark brown blotches or bands, the latter sometimes indistinct. The upper lip has a few white flecks. There is dark band running from behind the ey ...

Arthroleptella Lightfooti
Lightfoot's moss frog or the Cape Peninsula moss frog (''Arthroleptella lightfooti'') is a species of frog in the family Pyxicephalidae. It is endemic to South Africa. Its natural habitats are temperate forest, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, and rivers. It is threatened by habitat loss Habitat destruction (also termed habitat loss and habitat reduction) is the process by which a natural habitat becomes incapable of supporting its native species. The organisms that previously inhabited the site are displaced or dead, thereby .... De Villiers' Moss Frog
The De Villiers' moss frog (''Arthroleptella villiersi'') is a minute species of frog in the family Pyxicephalidae, which is endemic to the Western Cape, South Africa. At around length, it is one of the smallest regional species, though larger than the micro frog. As with other moss frogs, they do not enter water, but females lay their eggs in damp vegetation, and the frogs hatch directly from the egg capsules. Its natural habitats are Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, rivers, and plantations. It is threatened by habitat loss Habitat destruction (also termed habitat loss and habitat reduction) is the process by which a natural habitat becomes incapable of supporting its native species.
