Arth (1982 Film)
''Arth'' () is a 1982 Indian drama film directed by Mahesh Bhatt, starring Shabana Azmi and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in lead roles and Smita Patil, Raj Kiran and Rohini Hattangadi in supporting roles. It features some of the most memorable soundtracks by Ghazal duo, Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh. The semi-autobiographical film was written by Mahesh Bhatt about his extramarital relationship with Parveen Babi. It is one of the 25 Must See Bollywood Movies as compiled by Indiatimes Movies. The film was remade in Tamil as ''Marupadiyum'' (1993) by Balu Mahendra. In 2017, Pakistani actor and director Shaan Shahid released, ''Arth 2'' and Bhatt acted as a "mentor" during production. Mahesh Bhatt
Mahesh Bhatt (born 20 September 1948) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter known for his works in Hindi cinema. A stand-out film from his earlier period is ''Saaransh'' (1984), screened at the 14th Moscow International Film Festival. It became India's official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for that year. The 1986 film '' Naam'' was his first piece of commercial cinema. In 1987, he turned producer with the film '' Kabzaa'' under the banner, "Vishesh Films", with his brother Mukesh Bhatt. ''Arth – The Destination'' is a 2017 Pakistani romantic drama film, written, directed and co-produced by Shaan Shahid under his banner 5th Element. It stars Shahid as Ali, a struggling musician, with Humaima Malick, Mohib Mirza and Uzma Hassan in lead roles. It is a Pakistani remake based on Mahesh Bhatt's 1982 film ''Arth''. Jagjit Singh (born Jagmohan Singh Dhiman; 8 February 1941 – 10 October 2011) was an Indian composer, singer and musician. Chand Usmani (3 January 1933 – 26 November 1989) was an Indian actress in Hindi films from the 1950s to the late 1980s. She won the 1971 Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
