Art Stewart (producer)
Art Stewart is an American record producer, audio engineer, and composer who has worked on many Motown recordings. He worked on the ''Blue'' album by Diana Ross, and recordings by Teena Marie, including her '' Wild and Peaceful'' album, released in 1979. With Marvin Gaye, he has worked on the ''Let's Get It On'' album and Gaye's single "Got to Give It Up". He has also worked with Rick James on his Motown debut album ''Come Get It!'', and his second Motown album, ''Bustin' Out of L Seven''. Background Stewart has been a staff engineer for Motown Records and had worked on sessions with Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. His work as a producer appears on the ''Motown Grammy Rhythm & Blues Performances Of The 1960s & 1970s'' various artists compilation album. Motown
Motown Records is an American record label owned by the Universal Music Group. It was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on June 7, 1958, and incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960. Michael Eric Dyson
Michael Eric Dyson (born October 23, 1958) is an American academic, author, ordained minister, and radio host. He is a professor in the College of Arts and Science and in the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University. Described by Michael A. Leon Ware (February 16, 1940 – February 23, 2017) was an American songwriter, producer, composer, and singer. Patricia Eva "Bonnie" Pointer (July 11, 1950– June 8, 2020) was an American singer, best known for having been a member of the vocal group, the Pointer Sisters. Pointer scored several moderate solo hits after leaving the Pointers in 1977, including a disco cover of the Elgins' " Heaven Must Have Sent You" which became a U.S. top 20 pop hit on September 1, 1979. Edwin Starr
Charles Edwin Hatcher (January 21, 1942 – April 2, 2003), known by his stage name Edwin Starr, was an American singer and songwriter. Starr was famous for his Norman Whitfield-produced Motown singles of the 1970s, most notably the number-one hit "War". Born in Nashville and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, he later lived in Detroit while singing for Ric-Tic and Motown Records. He was backed by the band that became known as "Black Merda". Frederick Robert Williamson (born March 5, 1938), also known as The Hammer, is an American actor and former professional American football defensive back who played mainly in the American Football League during the 1960s. ''Lady Sings the Blues'' is the soundtrack to the Billie Holiday biopic of the same name, which starred Diana Ross in her 1972 screen debut. It became Ross' fourth #1 album (eventually selling over 2 million US copies), though the only one as a solo artist. It was certified gold in the UK for sales of over 100,000 copies. Mel Carter (born April 22, 1939, Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American singer and actor. He is best known for his 1965 million-selling recording, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me". Biography At age 16 Carter studied singing with vocalist Little Jimmy Scott. Ozone was a funk and R&B group during the late 1970s and early 1980s, signed to Motown Records.
