Aron Baynes
Aron John Baynes (born 9 December 1986) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Washington State University before starting his professional career in Europe. In 2013, he joined the San Antonio Spurs, and a year later, won an NBA championship with the Spurs. He has also played with the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, and Toronto Raptors. Baynes also plays for the Australian national team. Early life Baynes was born in Gisborne, New Zealand to New Zealand parents in 1986. His family moved to the relatively small Australian town of Mareeba, Queensland when he was three years of age. The Detroit Pistons are an American professional basketball team based in Detroit. The Pistons compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division and play their home games at Little Caesars Arena, located in Midtown. Founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a semi-professional company basketball team called the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons in 1937, they would turn pro in 1941 as a member of the National Basketball League (NBL), where they won two NBL championships: in 1944 and 1945. The Phoenix Suns are an American professional basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. FIBA Oceania Championship
FIBA Oceania Championship was the Oceania basketball championships that took place every two years between national teams of the continent. Through the 2015 edition, the Oceania Championship was also a qualifying tournament for the Basketball World Cups and Olympic Games. When only Australia and New Zealand competed, the tournament was usually a best-of-three playoff; if other teams competed, a round-robin and a knockout stage was employed. In 2009, the Oceania Basketball Federation changed this format to a two-game, home-and-away playoff between the two countries, with aggregate score as the tiebreaker should the teams split the series. Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 20th edition of the event for men at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 25 July to 7 August 2021. All games were played at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The United States won their 16th overall and fourth consecutive gold medal, after defeating France in the final. Australia won the bronze with a 107–93 win over Slovenia, winning its first medal in men's basketball after a series of losses in bronze medal games. Basketball at the Summer Olympics has been a sport for men consistently since 1936. Prior to its inclusion as a medal sport, basketball was held as a demonstration event in 1904. Women's basketball made its debut in the Summer Olympics in 1976. FIBA organizes both the men's and women's FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and the Summer Olympics basketball tournaments, which are sanctioned by the IOC. LKL Slam Dunk Contest
The LKL Slam Dunk Contest was an annual Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) competition, that was originally held during the LKL All-Star Day, and later during the King Mindaugas Cup. The contest has been held almost every year, from the first All-Star Day. History Throughout the history of the contest, there have been witnessed many famous moments. Most noticeable being the 2001 contest, in Kaunas, where Robertas Javtokas (representing Lietuvos rytas) repeated the World Record for the highest slam dunk, when he dunked a basketball on a goal set at 3.65m (12 feet) above the floor. LKF Cup
The LKF Cup was an annual national domestic cup competition for Lithuanian professional basketball teams. It was organised by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija - LKF). The competition's full name was Lietuvos Krepšinio Federacija Taurė (English: Lithuanian Basketball Federation Cup). Before 2007, the LKF Cup wasn't held regularly, but after that, its finals were organised every January, February, or March. Between 2007 and 2014, the competition was played between teams from the LKL, the NKL, and the RKL. In 2015, the LKF decided to change the competition format, and it was then played between the top eight qualified teams of the LKL, after the first half of the season. Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) (''English'': Lithuanian Basketball League), also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. 2014 NBA Finals
The 2014 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) 2013–14 season and the conclusion of the season's playoffs. The Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs defeated the two-time defending NBA champion and Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat in five games (4–1) for the Spurs' fifth NBA championship in franchise history.
