Arnaud Devillers
Arnaud Devillers, F.S.S.P., is a French Roman Catholic priest. He was the Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter between 2000 and 2006. Controversially, he was not elected by members of the Fraternity, but was appointed directly by the president of the Ecclesia Dei commission, Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos. The background to his appointment was an argument within the ranks of the Fraternity as to whether they should concelebrate the Mass of Paul VI. Devillers was seen to be a neutral candidate who was not strongly in favour of either side of the argument. Josef Bisig
Josef Meinrad Bisig (born 2 September 1952) is a Swiss Roman Catholic priest, and co-founder and first superior general of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter. He was originally a member of the Society of Saint Pius X but left when founder Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre illicitly consecrated four bishops. Formerly a seminary rector in Europe, Bisig was appointed vice-rector and theology professor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in 2005. Bisig became rector in 2006 and is also a councillor of his order. He has a licentiate in Sacred Theology, and is currently preparing a doctorate of theology. John Berg (priest)
John Marcus Berg, F.S.S.P. (born 1970) is an American Catholic priest and former superior general of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter. He was elected on July 7, 2006 by the General Chapter of the Fraternity at its mother house in Wigratzbad, Germany, for a six-year term. Berg was elected to a second term at the fifth General Chapter in July 2012. Berg's second term concluded on July 9, 2018. Biography Berg was born to a Catholic family in Minnesota in 1970. Berg graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, MN. Berg studied philosophy at Thomas Aquinas College in California from 1989 to 1993, where he discerned a vocation to the priesthood. In 1994, he entered the Fraternity's seminary in Wigratzbad, where he studied for two years; he finished his studies with a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. ''Ecclesia Dei'' is the document Pope John Paul II issued on 2 July 1988 in reaction to the Ecône consecrations, in which four priests of the Society of Saint Pius X were ordained as bishops despite an express prohibition by the Holy See. The consecrating bishop and the four priests consecrated were excommunicated. John Paul called for unity and established the Pontifical Commission ''Ecclesia Dei'' to foster a dialogue with those associated with the consecrations who hoped to maintain both loyalty to the papacy and their attachment to traditional liturgical forms. As is customary for such a papal document, it takes its name from the opening words of its Latin text, ''Ecclesia Dei'', meaning "God's Church". Darío Castrillón Hoyos
Darío del Niño Jesús Castrillón Hoyos (4 July 1929 – 18 May 2018) was a Colombian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy from 1996 to 2006 and President of the Pontifical Commission ''Ecclesia Dei'' from 2000 until his retirement in 2009. He was made a cardinal in 1998. Early life Born in Medellín, Colombia, Castrillón Hoyos attended the seminaries in Antioquia and Santa Rosa de Osos before studying at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
