Arnaldo Niskier
Arnaldo Niskier is a Brazilian scholar. He was born in Rio de Janeiro in April 1935. He is the seventh occupant of Chair nº 18 at the Academia Brasileira, to which he was elected on March 22, 1984, succeeding Peregrino Júnior. He was received on September 17, 1984 by academic Rachel de Queiroz. In turn, he received academics Murilo Melo Filho, Carlos Heitor Cony and Paulo Coelho. Brazilians ( pt, Brasileiros, ) are the citizens of Brazil. A Brazilian can also be a person born abroad to a Brazilian parent or legal guardian as well as a person who acquired Brazilian citizenship. The Academia Brasileira de Letras (ABL) ( English: ''Brazilian Academy of Letters'') is a Brazilian literary non-profit society established at the end of the 19th century. The first president, Machado de Assis, declared its foundation on Tuesday, 15 December 1896, with the by-laws being passed on Thursday, 28 January 1897. On Tuesday, 20 July of the same year, the academy started its operation. According to its statutes, it is the pre-eminent Portuguese council for matters pertaining to the Portuguese language. The ABL is considered the foremost institution devoted to the Portuguese language in Brazil. Its prestige and technical qualification gives it paramount authority in Brazilian Portuguese, even though it is not a public institution and no law grants it oversight over the language. Peregrino Júnior
Peregrino is an oil field (block BM-C-7) located offshore of Brazil, east of Rio de Janeiro, in the southwest part of the Campos Basin area with about of oil in place within the sanctioned area. Rachel De Queiroz
Rachel de Queiroz (, November 17, 1910 – November 4, 2003) was a Brazilian author, translator and journalist. Biography Rachel de Queiroz was born on 17 November 1910 in Fortaleza, capital of the northeastern state of Ceará. During her childhood, her family spent a couple of years in Rio de Janeiro and Belém before moving back to Fortaleza. She began her career in journalism in 1927 under the pen name "Rita de Queiroz". She entered the national spotlight with the unexpected success of her debut novel '' O Quinze'' in 1930. She published another three novels before moving to Rio in 1939. She was also renowned for her ''chronicles'', short topical newspaper pieces. In 1964 she became Brazil's representative to the UN, and in 1977 she became the first female writer to enter the Academia Brasileira de Letras. She won the Camões Prize (1993) and the Prêmio Jabuti. Murilo Melo Filho
Murilo Melo Filho (13 October 1928 - 27 May 2020) was a Brazilian author, journalist and politician. He was a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras, an elite group of 40 writers and poets similar to France's Académie Française, occupying Chair no 20, in succession to Aurélio de Lira Tavares. He was also a member of the regional Academia Norte-Riograndense de Letras, occupying Chair no 19. He was a member of the administrative council of the Associação Brasileira de Imprensa (the Brazilian Press Association) He was born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, the son of Murilo Melo and Hermínia de Freitas Melo. He worked on ''A República'', a periodical published in his home town. Carlos Heitor Cony (March 14, 1926 – January 5, 2018) was a Brazilian journalist and writer. He was a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (Portuguese: Academia Brasileira de Letras).
