Army Department Constabulary
The Army Department Constabulary was a security police force in the United Kingdom formed as a result of the Special Constables Act 1923. Originally, the Army used serving soldiers to guard its establishments and the only call for police was at places like the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich. A War Department Constabulary was formed in 1925 to replace the Metropolitan Police at the Arsenal. It was renamed the Army Department Constabulary in 1964 when the War Office was replaced by the Army Department of the Ministry of Defence. Security Police
Security police officers are employed by or for a governmental agency or corporations to provide security service security services to those properties. Security police protect facilities, properties, personnel, users, visitors and enforce certain laws and administrative regulations. Most security police have limited arrest authority. The law enforcement powers of security police vary by federal, state and city law. Different from general Police departments, the primary focus of security police is on the protection of specific properties or facilities. This causes some overlap with functions normally performed by security guards. The Special Constables Act 1923 (13 and 14 Geo. Royal Arsenal
The Royal Arsenal, Woolwich is an establishment on the south bank of the River Thames in Woolwich in south-east London, England, that was used for the manufacture of armaments and ammunition, proofing, and explosives research for the British armed forces. It was originally known as the Woolwich Warren, having begun on land previously used as a domestic warren in the grounds of a Tudor house, Tower Place. Much of the initial history of the site is linked with that of the Office of Ordnance, which purchased the Warren in the late 17th century in order to expand an earlier base at Gun Wharf in Woolwich Dockyard. Over the next two centuries, as operations grew and innovations were pursued, the site expanded massively. At the time of the First World War the Arsenal covered and employed close to 80,000 people.
