Armenian Student Sports Federation
The Armenian Student Sports Federation (ARMSSF) ( hy, Հայաստանի ուսանողական մարզական ֆեդերացիա, translit=Hayastani usanoghakan marzakan federats’ia) is a national non-governmental organization responsible for advocating, supporting and promoting the interests of students' sports and physical activities in Armenia. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. The Federation maintains numerous cooperation agreements with universities across Armenia. History The Armenian Student Sports Federation was established in 1994 and the current president is Hovhannes Gabrielyan. The Federation became a full member of the International University Sports Federation in 1995. The Federation is also a member of the European University Sports Association. A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey. Further, the country sends athletes to the Olympics in boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, gymnastics, track and field, diving, swimming, and shooting. Armenia's mountainous terrain provides great opportunities for the practice of sports like skiing and rock climbing. Being a landlocked country, water sports can only be practiced on lakes, notably Lake Sevan. National Youth Council Of Armenia
The National Youth Council of Armenia (NYCA) ( hy, Հայաստանի երիտասարդության ազգային խորհուրդ, translit=Hayastani yeritasardut’yan azgayin khorhurd) is one of the largest youth organizations in Armenia uniting dozens of student and youth structures in the country. It was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Yerevan. History The National Youth Council of Armenia was established on 12 December 1997 as an umbrella organization for 70 student and youth structures throughout Armenia. The NYCA's stated aim is to protect and advocate for youth rights across Armenia. The organization plans conferences, activities, debates, presentations, and seminars across the country. The NYCA became a full member of the European Youth Forum in 2002 and participates in all programs and assemblies of the organization.
