The Armenian Hockey League (AHL) ( hy, Հայաստանի հոկեյի լիգա, Hayastani hokeyi liga) is the highest level of ice hockey competition in Armenia. The league was founded in 2000 and currently consists of five teams: Yerevan Lions, the Sharks, Pyunik, Peppers, and Falcons. History The first season of the league was the 2000-2001 season. Sport In Armenia
A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey. Further, the country sends athletes to the Olympics in boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, judo, gymnastics, track and field, diving, swimming, and shooting. Armenia's mountainous terrain provides great opportunities for the practice of sports like skiing and rock climbing. Being a landlocked country, water sports can only be practiced on lakes, notably Lake Sevan. Competitively, Armenia has been very successful at chess, weightlifting, and wrestling at the international level. Ice Hockey By Country
Ice hockey is a sport played primarily in cold weather countries in the world. The International Ice Hockey Federation has 76 members (54 full members, 21 associate members and 1 affiliate member). SKA Yerevan
Ska (; ) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat.
