The Sports Clubs of the Armed Forces, Physical Culture and Sports Association of the Soviet Armed Forces (russian: спортивные клубы Армии КА} ''sportivnye kluby Armiy, SKA''; russian: Физкультурно-спортивное объединение Вооружённых Сил СССР, ''Fizkulturno-sportivnoe obyedinenie Vooruzhonnykh Sil SSSR''), also called the Sports Clubs of the Soviet Ministry of Defense or simply Armed Forces or Army were a system of departmental sports clubs and one of the largest sports societies in the USSR. Established at first within officers' clubs of the Red Army, after the Second World War they were reformed into sports clubs for all ranks in the armed forces. All the sports clubs were supervised by the Sports Committee of the Ministry of Defence of the USSR and the sports committees of military districts and naval fleets, with each district and fleet having its own club. A sports club or sporting club, sometimes an athletics club or sports society or sports association, is a group of people formed for the purpose of playing sports. Sports clubs range from organisations whose members play together, unpaid, and may play other similar clubs on occasion, watched mostly by family and friends, to large commercial organisations with professional players which have teams that regularly compete against those of other clubs and attract sometimes very large crowds of paying spectators. Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ( uk, Центральний Спортивний Клуб Збройних Сил України, transliteration: ''Tsentralnyi Sportyvnyi Klub Zbroinykh Syl Ukrayiny'') or CSK ZSU ( uk, ЦСК ЗСУ) is a sports club that was created on December 15, 1992 based on the Soviet Sports Club of Army (SKA Kyiv) in Kyiv (regional center of CKA), which dissolved after the fall of the Soviet Union. CSK ZSU is subordinated to the Sport Administration of Ministry of Defense (created on April 29, 1992). The club is a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and prepares Ukrainian Olympic reserve ( Olympians) for Olympic Games. Yuriy Lituyev
Yuriy Nikolaevich Lituyev (russian: Юрий Николаевич Литуев) (April 11, 1925 – March 2, 2000) was a Soviet athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metre hurdles. He trained in Leningrad and later in Moscow at the Armed Forces sports society. Lituyev took part in the second world war, where he was a battery commander. SC Odesa is a former Ukrainian football team that appeared in 1992 following the reorganization of the Soviet SKA Odesa. The new city municipal team was located in Odesa, Ukraine and previously at one point was part of the Soviet Army sport system. Brief history The club was founded as a sport society of various disciplines in 1944. It began its legacy in the Soviet sport competitions under the name of ODO (Okruzhnoy Dom Offitserov), which meant Regional Officers' Club in Russian. There were many similar Army clubs in various cities across the whole USSR, with the central one being in Moscow.
