Armed Forces Preparatory Academy (Thailand)
The Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School or AFAPS (Thai: โรงเรียนเตรียมทหาร) is a senior high school in Nakhon Nayok Province. It is a flagship institution of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters. The curriculum consists of academic and physical training as well as other activities. Cadets who manage to graduate automatically gain entrance to the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, the Royal Thai Naval Academy, the Royal Thai Air Force Academy, or the Royal Thai Police Academy. The school accepts only male applicants. Admission to AFAPS is selective. The number of applicants per year exceeds 70,000 and over 600 are accepted, making overall acceptance rate less than 1%. With more than 600 cadets per class year, the academy's enrolment is around 2,000. The cadet regiment represents all provinces of Thailand. Armed (May, 1941–1964) was an American Thoroughbred gelding race horse who was the American Horse of the Year in 1947 and Champion Older Male Horse in both 1946 and 1947. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1963. Background Armed was sired by the great stakes winner Bull Lea, the sire of Citation. Isarapong Noonpakdee
Isarapong Noonpakdee (20 November 1933 – 17 February 2017) ( th, อิสระพงศ์ หนุนภักดี) was a Thai military officer who was Commander of the Royal Thai Army in 1992. Isarapong played a key role in the coup against the government of then Gen.Chatichai Choonhavan when he was deputy Army commander-in-chief. He became the secretary-general of the National Peacekeeping Council (NPKC) or the coup maker. Isarapong became the interior minister in the post-coup government of Anand Panyarachun. He later succeeded Suchinda Kraprayoon as Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army when Suchinda became the prime minister. Chaiyasit Shinawatra
Chaiyasit Shinawatra ( th, ชัยสิทธิ์ ชินวัตร; ; born 25 June 1945) is a former commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army. He was transferred from the army to become a special advisor to the Supreme Command Headquarters under the administration of Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai. In August 2001, Chaiyasit was promoted to deputy commander of the Armed Forces Development Command. In August 2002, he was promoted to the post of deputy commander-in-chief. As a cousin of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, his unexpected appointment was criticised as an act of nepotism. Arthit Kamlang-ek
Arthit Kamlang-ek (31 August 1925 – 19 January 2015; th, อาทิตย์ กำลังเอก, ) was a Thai general. He was the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army from 1982 to 1986 and parallel the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces from 1983 to 1986. He was particularly influential during the 1980s during the government of Prem Tinsulanonda. Education and early career Arthit graduated from the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. Sunthorn Kongsompong ( th, สุนทร คงสมพงษ์, , ; 1 August 1931 – 2 August 1999) was the ''de facto'' head of government of Thailand from 1991 to 1992, after a military coup d'etat led by Sunthorn and General Suchinda Kraprayoon deposed the government of Prime Minister Chatichai Choonhavan on February 23, 1991. The generals accused Chatichai of corruption, and established the National Peacekeeping Council (NPKC) as an interim administration, with Sunthorn as chairman. Anand Panyarachun was appointed Prime Minister in March, 1991, but the administration of the country was also executed by the NPKC. Chavalit Yongchaiyudh ( th, ชวลิต ยงใจยุทธ, , ; born 15 May 1932), also known as "Big Jiew" (, , ), is a Thai politician and retired army officer. General Chalermchai Sitthisart PC ( th, เฉลิมชัย สิทธิสาท) is a retired Thai military officer and general within the Royal Thai Army. In September 2016, he was chosen to serve as the Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army, and was endorsed by then-King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Grading in education is the process of applying standardized measurements for varying levels of achievements in a course.
